A one woman art show

Located in the Texas Hill Country, ArtFromDenise is owned & operated by Denise Cunniff. That's me! A one woman art show. Offering high quality canvas wall art and unique art decor direct from the artist at her best possible price.

My art is inspired by, well, EVERYTHING. Not just the cookie cutter reasons included in the average artists bio. Sure, nature inspires me. So does chocolate cake. And unless it's birds, trees, a sunset or seascape, I mostly paint in an abstract style, never know what will inspire me, try to follow my gut and rarely plan the design. It's an organic process. Color drives the direction. Mood affects everything. And usually, I'm not sure if it's me controlling the paint or a higher power. Especially when a painting turns out 100x better than I could ever imagine. Seriously, I think that power drives most life-long talented artists. Visual and otherwise. It's a passion we're born with for many reasons. We're meant to tune in, let go and share it with the world.

Like when a friendly little small town bank asked me to paint five huge indoor murals. Lots of research, planning and designing would be required for five hill country scenes depicting their town's history of longhorns, horses, ranchers, cowboys, Indians, merchants, wagon trains and more. All in sepia tones for an aged look.

The uncharted territory of this project wasn't easy to take on. Painting landscapes - no problem. That comes naturally for me and when realistic art was more popular, I loved doing it (in full color). Animals and people were not in my painting repertoire. One 30' wide mural required painting from planks resting on 16' scaffolding. Heights give me the heebie-jeebies. Walking planks is for pirates. Using one color sounded boring.

As one who doesn't want to disappoint with a bit of OCD thrown in, I worried they wouldn't be happy with the results. Until a friend reminded me that I needed to let go and have faith.

Amazingly, with the exception of prep work, the first mural was completed in two days. A scene of hills + trees + four cowboys on four horses crossing a river. 15' wide! In 2 days? I had to sign it God + Denise. Really. It would have felt like plagiarism otherwise. The entire project was an awesome experience. Talk about inspired! Each mural flowed like magic and turned out great. I loved every minute of it AND all the friendly small town people.

Soon after, another friendly small town bank asked me to create similar murals. In full color.

I pay attention to synchronicity (my favorite word) and gladly painted those. Plus horse portraits and western murals for other people. And another one for that first little town. A life size outdoor full color scene for the tourist hot spot of Bandera. The final results were even more awesome. The preliminary work I did photographing handsome cowboys on horses wasn't bad either. Icing on the cake.

This has been a pattern for my 35+ years as an artist and interior designer. The more you let go and let God help you master something, the more you will enjoy it and the more in demand it will be. For a reason. Fourteen years later, those murals are still being enjoyed by thousands of people and the families that commissioned the horse portraits will enjoy them for generations. Which is what it's all about.

Similar mural requests still come in. But due to a near fall off of 12' scaffolding, you'll never see my butt UP there again. Creating from the comfort of my home studio is much easier than climbing ladders or monkey bars. And my interests and preferred style has changed. As well as my customers. Most just want uncommon home decor that makes them feel good and looks great in their space. Which is why my current art is all about that.

These days, time is a big factor in how and what I create. For every original painting, I scan and process the image for printing, create design examples for each listing, take care of marketing, customer service, and all other facets of managing an online business. As a one woman art show, switching gears from 'in the flow' of creating art to managing left brain duties is a challenge. Then there's that challenge we all face of not getting sucked into some random rabbit hole every time we go online. Know what I mean?

To make the most of my time and keep overhead costs down and sustainable, I only offer products online and don't keep anything in stock. All items are upscale in design and made to order - one at a time - after an order is placed. For this shop, a production partner prints each item on fabric, then they cut, sew, package & ship.

The ArtFromDenise wall art and home decor line is not mass produced or sold in department stores. No printed products are kept in stock. Each high quality item is made exclusively for each customer.

Whether it's a shower curtain, throw pillow, bedding set, wall tapestry or canvas wall art, there are hundreds of ArtFromDenise design selections and options to choose from throughout my Etsy shops. All of those items feature my original art. Each detailed listing includes links to all options for each design in each art collection. Before ordering, it's a buyer's responsibility to read and understand item descriptions and processing times, enter the correct ship-to address, and review store policies that are unique to each Etsy shop.

For both of my shops, in the detailed description for each listing I do my best to provide essential information and include accurate digital images that are as close as possible to the product a customer would receive. Please don't hesitate to contact me before placing an order if you have any questions.

The only way I can offer this small independent line of art decor is by maintaining standards and policies that are appropriate for my small business structure and allow for continued sustainability. This includes choosing not to maintain a product inventory. I do not stock or resale items like big box stores do.

My customers are guaranteed brand new functional art that is created exclusively for them. Products that have never been touched by the retail public and are created in a professional smoke/pet-free space by expert craftsmen.

The production process begins soon after each order is placed. Each item is printed with a high quality professional digital capture of my original painting or a section of that painting. Then it's hand cut, sewn, packaged and shipped. Due to my production partners' policies, this process can't be reversed, so it's a good idea to allow yourself time to read the detailed description for the item you are considering.

If you're unsure about the size you should order and you've read the information provided in the item's detailed description, please ask me for help! With 35+ years of experience as a professional artist and designer, I'm always happy to assist you if possible. Free of charge.

If you're unsure of color choices, you might want to consider ordering a small pillow cover or the 10x14" accent pillow in the design you love. These are low cost items that you can always give as a gift if it doesn't match your decor.

Every item is carefully inspected by the production company's quality control department before being shipped to you. But, they are busy humans and mistakes can happen. If you discover that there's a defect in an art product you received, please contact ArtFromDenise within 48 hours and attach photos that clearly show the defect. A new replacement item will be created and shipped to you free of charge.

Returns, exchanges and cancellations will not be accepted and refunds will not be offered. This includes instances where a buyer purchased from ArtFromDenise and changed their mind, ordered the wrong size and/or design, or didn't read the item description or shop policies. Please purchase responsibly.

And please keep this in mind... In no way am I trying to compete with big retailers that can easily absorb the costs associated with returns or refunds. We may offer items in the same category, but they have huge inventories and thousands of customers generating millions in revenue. I don't.

Producing one brand new high quality designer art pillow that is made to order exclusively for one customer is totally different than mass producing thousands of cheap pillows to warehouse and sell to the masses. It's like comparing a delicious homemade chocolate cake to a dog treat made in China. You can buy those cheap dog treats anywhere, but it takes time as well as the right recipe and ingredients to create a fabulous chocolate cake. Or uncommon home decor featuring beautiful original art - offered direct from the artist at her best possible price.

The fabric is printed by a specialized production partner in just the right size for each customer's specific product selection, which eliminates all fabric scraps and waste, as well as any costs associated with stocking inventory. The same production partner also sews and ships the item(s).

All ArtFromDenise listings are set up with flat rate shipping, which do not include the additional rates that Fedex will charge for these locations. So, unless you're ordering pillow covers without inserts, a shower curtain, or wall tapestry, there will be additional shipping charges. When you contact me, I'll be glad to get the shipping rates and set up a custom listing for you to purchase. However, if you purchase without contacting me first, I may have no choice but to cancel the order.

☼ I do not accept INTERNATIONAL orders. No exceptions.

Notice to UK shoppers: EU law allows EU residents to return an item within 14 days - for any reason. Sorry, but for made to order custom items like I offer, that's just crazy. And impossible for a microbusiness like mine to honor. I'm not an international chain and I have a no return policy for a reason.

In addition, UK leaders have no business telling a U.S. owned business what to do on it's own shores. They don't rule the world.

Remember, your item is made to order, so please be patient. The creation process starts as soon as a customer's payment has fully processed, or when a replacement order has been arranged.

ArtFromDenise products are shipped by USPS/Priority Mail, FedEx or UPS within 4-13 business days. Packages are shipped Monday through Friday. There is no shipping on weekends and holidays. During holidays, orders can require up to five additional business days to create and longer than usual to ship.

Depending on quantity, size and weight, orders arrive packaged in padded envelopes, poly mailer bags, or cardboard boxes. Nothing fancy. I would love to get creative and make the packaging more fun, include a handwritten note, and offer gift wrap for each item. However, my production partner that prints, sews, and ships the orders simply isn't set up to handle those extra services. But, it's the thought that counts, right? Not to mention that awesome new art decor item that's IN the package. Enjoy that!

It's the customer's responsibility to enter and choose the correct ship-to address BEFORE purchasing. That's where your order will be sent to.
PLEASE make sure your account information in your profile settings are updated with the correct address and information BEFORE you make any purchase. Etsy sellers are instructed to ship to the address you’ve selected from your Etsy account and advised not to manually change it on our shipping label or store records. If the item is a gift that needs to go to an address other than your own, you will need to add that to your list of addresses on your account and make sure to select the right one when you’re checking out. If you’re using a third party app to pay with (i.e. ApplePay) please double check the ship to address/information when you’re submitting the order. Some third party apps can override ship-to addresses on Etsy accounts. Etsy sellers cannot be held responsible for any issues with third party apps, and no refunds will be issued by Etsy or ArtFromDenise.

► SHIPPING CARRIERS and who's responsible for what
When you pay a shop to ship a package to you, we will be handing over that package to the carrier on your behalf after our creation process is complete. 98% of the time carriers do a great job delivering orders quickly and safely. But ultimately, it's not up to Etsy sellers how carriers handle a package nor are we required to cover the costs associated with delivery problems that are out of our control. Big businesses can easily absorb those costs and offer that as a service if they choose to, but ArtFromDenise is not a big business. Comparing Etsy sellers to big retailers is like comparing apples to oranges. We may offer items in the same category, but we don't have their deep pockets or the same type of business structure.

Unless you've been promised otherwise by a registered shop owner, Etsy sellers are not held responsible for issues caused by shipping carriers and no refunds or free replacement orders will be issued by Etsy or ArtFromDenise due to delays or a carrier's inadequacies. This includes “failure to deliver”, "insufficient address", "unclaimed package", or lost packages. We are also not responsible for packages that are stolen off of a porch.

It's a buyer's responsibility to enter and select the correct ship-to address. If a package is 'returned to sender', I'll be glad to resend the order. However, the buyer will first need to pay for all additional shipping costs. Carriers don't ship anything for free. Even when it's a 'return to sender', I'm charged for that additional shipping cost from Fedex or UPS. So, the buyer will be responsible for any 'return-to-sender' shipping cost as well as the cost to re-ship the product to them.
If the buyer chooses to have the item re-shipped, I'll set up a new listing that covers all related shipping costs and provide them with the link to that listing. If payment is not received within 48 hours, my production partner will discard or donate the item. They aren't set up to hold and keep track of returned packages indefinitely and there's no reason for me to pay them for shipping it to my studio. ArtFromDenise does not RE-SALE items that other buyers have handled. My customers are guaranteed brand new art decor products that are made exclusively for them!

A tracking number is provided when the order is shipped and it’s up to the buyer to make arrangements to receive the delivery. It's also the buyer's responsibility to make arrangements for re-delivery of the package, as well as tracking down a lost package. Large companies can afford to hire staff to help handle all of that, but in most cases it's actually much quicker and more efficient for the intended recipient of a package to take care of that locally.
If the item is returned to sender and the buyer wants the item re-shipped, they must submit payment for all shipping costs within 48 hours (as outlined above). No refunds or free replacement orders will be issued for orders that the carrier was unable to deliver or lost.

Buyers are responsible for entering the correct shipping address on their Etsy account and verifying that ship-to address during the check out process. If a buyer provides an old address, incomplete address, or wrong address, the package will be deemed "Undeliverable as Addressed" and in most cases, returned to sender. If it is returned and the buyer wants the item re-shipped to the correct address, they must submit payment for all shipping costs within 48 hours (as outlined above). No refunds or free replacement orders will be issued for orders that had an "insufficient address".

If a buyer refused a package, failed to claim a package at the Post Office, or failed to reschedule a delivery, the package is considered "unclaimed". If the package is returned to sender and the buyer wants the item re-shipped, they must submit payment for all shipping costs within 48 hours (as outlined above). No refunds or free replacement orders will be issued for lost or "unclaimed" packages.

In the rare event (as in - it's never happened with this shop) damage occurs in transit, please contact USPS or the carrier that delivered your package. The recipient must hold on to the product and all original packaging material for their claim to be processed.

☼ Rush orders and shipping upgrades are not available for quicker delivery. All items are made by hand, which takes time. And in my experience, unless it's overnight air, shipping upgrades rarely get a package delivered much quicker.

Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's knowing that what we're waiting for is absolutely worth it!

☼ Due to the many size options I offer for each listing and associated limitations on the Etsy platform, my listings aren't set up for calculated shipping. I do my best to keep the price on all items as low as possible and have set a flat rate for standard shipping and handling. FYI, when ordering a quantity of more than one, that rate rarely covers the actual amount I end up paying the carrier on your behalf. But, it's as close to "free shipping" as I'll ever offer. Carriers don't ship anything for free, so that means it's up to you or me to cover the costs. Which every shopper does when they think they're getting free shipping. Those costs are just hidden in the product price. I believe in transparency!

☼ I offer standard shipping with tracking, which means every package is automatically insured for $50. Insurance upgrades are available ONLY if you send me a message at the same time you place an order. Until an order is placed, I will not know what the total dollar amount is; what the size, quantity, or estimated weight will be; or where it will be shipped to. So, if your order total (without shipping added) is more than $50 and you want more insurance coverage, just contact me prior to purchasing and I'll be glad to look up the rate - based on those factors listed above.
If you forget to ask for more insurance coverage before ordering, in some cases you can choose to upgrade immediately after. But the production process usually begins as soon as an order comes in and the company that prints/sews/ships my items does not allow for changes on the order of any kind. However, if you catch me before I submit the order to them, I'll be glad to check on rates and set up a listing for you to purchase that covers the additional insurance coverage. The order will not be submitted to my production partner until that payment is received.
