Beautiful piece that shipped very quickly! I loved the packaging, down to the detail of the tape folded over at the end for easy peel-off. It felt like I was opening a gift!

About

I'm Lupen, an artist living in Sonoma County California.
These days I mainly work with watercolors, inspired by the natural world and reflective figure illustrations.

Since a young age I have been busy crafting, drawing, and putting things together. Being creative has been the main thread in my life. Growing up in Portland Oregon we often walked downtown to the Saturday market on weekends and I was so inspired by the artists and their beautiful wares. Reflecting back I see how much that has influenced my many crafty pursuits.
Aside from painting and illustration I have explored many mediums over my life, I got my first real carving set when I was 6 years old, and spent much of my time drawing the world around me. Through my teens I was making jewelry from just about anything, making clothes, painting and drawing.
Later I lived on Lopez Island for 15 years, half that time with no electricity or running water. (to this day I still love doing the dishes by hand, running water is so wonderful!) So without all the usual distractions there was a lot of time to be creative. I was a paid apprentice for over 10 years with an inspiring stained glass artist making large panels some for public spaces in Seattle and locally. I made and sold basketry through the gallery on Lopez, and went to the weekend farmers market with my pottery and jewelry. Just for fun I was sewing clothes, making journals, doing lots of crochet and seed beadwork.
All the crafting time was greatly influenced by the long rainy winters in the Pacific N.W. since the short summers were full with gardening and being out in nature. I later went to massage school and had a massage practice for 7 years before switching to doing my art and photography full time.
I love to learn and I've been a bit of a scanner, but I dive deeply into whatever I am doing to explore and understand it.
Currently I live in a small town in California enjoying the sunshine, and the amazing flowers and plants in this mediterranean climate.
Being a sensitive soul in this busy world I find that art is a way to center and express the sparkly musings that have caught my attention.
Some paintings are from photos I've taken, some from drawings made out in the field, and others from thumbnail sketches and imagination.

My prints are made at my home studio on a professional Epson R2000 printer with archival ultra chrome pigments on heavy matte Moab paper, titled and signed on the back by me. Wrapped and shipped with care.
