All of my pieces are one-a-kind, handmade by me. I have a collection of plates and platters from area home decor stores and secondhand shops. The oyster shells come from restaurants in my area, Pacific Grove and Monterey CA, trips to my hometown of New Orleans, LA, and an oyster bar in Denver where I have family. A "smelly" flat rate box of oyster shells is not an uncommon sight on my front porch. After choosing a plate I select and clean the oyster shells in a vinegar bath and grind them down on the back to sit properly on the plate. The shell hinge often needs to be touched up with acrylic paint because it gets broken when shucked. Once glued into position, I seal the shells to give them a fresh shucked wet look. Then I add the decorative finishes (sea glass, tumbled beach glass, sauce bowl, etc). And as a final touch, a single real pearl adorns one of the oyster shells. Due to drying and curing times, each oyster plate takes almost a week to make.

A DOZEN OYSTERS ON THE HALF SHELL - featuring a dozen oyster shells, set like the hours, around a unique collection of dinner plates and platters, accented with ocean hued sea glass in rich shades of sapphire, emerald, turquoise, ruby and gold. The 12 o'clock hour is embellished with a real 7mm pearl.

SHE SELLS SEASHELLS BY THE SEASHORE - inspired by collecting shells on the beach, these wall clocks feature an oyster shell with a real pearl at the 12 o’clock hour, starfish at 6 o'clock, and assorted seashells, set like the hours, around the plate rim with smaller seashells or sea glass lining plate bottom like minutes.
