About ArtPlayLearn

Sales 25
On Etsy since 2016

When my son was a baby, he was over-whelmed by the very naturalistic, detailed coloring pages that we got everywhere. I couldn't find simple images for him, so I started drawing my own. Then I started teaching my baby sign class and found myself drawing images that I couldn't find online anywhere to make teaching materials. I got very enthusiastic responses from the caregivers in my class about my drawings. So I realized that I had an ability to supply other caregivers with the same tools I used at home, and I started my Art Skills classes. Once again, I got a great response from the homemade materials. That's when I decided to open ArtPlayLearn to share my teaching materials, tools and art with anybody, anywhere.

I started with my art kits, the very same materials I use in class, but including instructions on how to use them to make the experience a fun way to practice academic skills. This is what I do in my teaching, but, without the instructions, the kits would just be a bunch of pictures. I also include recommendations for the follow up activities and some background knowledge of the subject.

Next I added the stickers, because, well....who doesn't like stickers?!?! But seriously, I had found certain images hard to find when I was planning my son's birthday parties. So I made my own. I figured, if I couldn't find them anywhere, neither could you and you just might want some too.

Finally, sitting with the other parents outside gymnastics, the topic of unusual knick names for loved ones came up. The other parents all were commiserating about how impossible it is to find a Mother's Day card for Bopshee or G-ma or a Father's Day card for Popi or Pacca. So I said maybe I should start making customized cards. And they all said, "Yes! You should!" So I did.

The cards are my own original artwork and take a bit of time. First, I find out what greeting and image you want on the outside and inside. Then I draw a digital font and cut it out of card stock. Then I draw the image on watercolor paper and paint it. I have to let it dry overnight. If it needs a second painting, I do that and let it dry. Then I outline the image and cut it out. Next I glue all of the words and images on the front of the card. Then, I lay out the inside greeting and print the page. Finally, I trim the page and glue it to the inside of the card. Once it's dry, I can pack it up with an envelope in my plastic bags to protect it from rain during shipping and send it off to you.

I hope you find something here that makes your day. If you don't, contact me!

I want you to be able to make and have art, play with your children to teach them something new. I'll do everything I can to make that happen for you.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

Yes, the stickers and kits can also be customized.

For stickers, let me know if you have an image you want to send me to print and cut or if you have an image you want me to create, print and cut. Or if you want a design I already provide in a different size, I can do that too.

For "Shapes" kits, if you need a specific image, I can create it. If you want specific set of colors or sizes for the shapes, I can do that.

For Watercolor, Fingerpainting or Coloring pages, if you want to select the images, I can do that. If you want them in a different size, I can do that but the price may be different since I will have to source different paper. If you have images you want me to create, I can do that.

Wholesale availability

Yes, but it may not be available to ship immediately. Please message me with your needs and I'll let you know if I can accommodate them.

Can you make custom cards in languages other than English? Even Japanese?

Yes, I can make the outside in any language. The inside is trickier but depending on the language I might be able to accommodate. Message me.

Sizing details

Currently the cards only come in one size. If you are looking for a different size, let me know and I will see if I can make it happen for you.

Can the arts integration kits be used for older children?

YES! If you let me know what grade level, I can even customize the integration instructions and follow up activity suggestions for you. These kits can be fun and educational for any age!
