About

A husband and wife team craft a creative lifestyle in the Tennessee hills . . .

We began our home studio in early 1983, developing our own products and bringing them to market. The first was the big family tree shown here at ArtandArtisan, our original Etsy shop. While Raymon drew and painted, I explored jewelry making. We both have degrees in art and are constantly bouncing ideas off one another.

As elected Tech-Girl, I eventually set up a second shop to feature his art work, and have moved most of his pieces there, leaving ArtandArtisan to showcase my jewelry. I draw on a range of technical skills, from beading to lapidary to silversmithing.

Wholesale shows are my huge weakness! I love rummaging through supplies that will spark new ideas. I have a signature look, with lots of color and texture, and combine gems with stones for unexpected effects.

And don't even get me started on lampwork. These mini wonders of the glass worker's art rev up the creative side of my brain to its highest pitch.

It gives me a great deal of happiness when a special piece I have designed finds just the right home. I guess that's what it's all about--finding joy in your life and work.

Welcome to ArtandArtisan, the Etsy shop of a husband and wife living the creative life in the hills of Tennessee. Everything here is made or designed by us.

We have degrees in art and years of experience. And we love exploring new techniques and materials! Of course, the artisan makes all of her jewelry, the artist is a painter working in a time-consuming traditional style, and has his original work reproduced on a wide range of media.

We welcome your convos. If you want more information about an item do feel free to contact us.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
We accept major credit cards through Etsy's direct checkout. If you prefer, you may also use PayPal for payments. You do not have to set up an account with PayPal to use their free payment service.

Payment is due at time of purchase. E-check orders through PayPal take longer and ship after the check fully clears. Tennessee residents will be charged sales tax of 9.25%. The state is picky about such things and we humor them. We reserve the right to cancel a sale at our discretion.

Please make sure your mailing address is correct. PayPal orders are shipped to the address on file with PayPal. Etsy Direct Checkout orders are shipped to the address on your Etsy order form. It is always a good idea to check your convos after ordering, in case we have a question.
Shipping
Shipping Time--

Every effort is made to ship the same day your order is placed and payment cleared, depending upon the time we receive the order.

We use priority mail flat rate for jewelry unless otherwise noted and combine orders unless you request otherwise. In some cases (local orders for instance) we may ship 1st class and refund excess. Jewelry and print orders cannot combine. Let us know if you need to buy faster shipping. We process mail fast, but once your package hits the slot, we can't guarantee Postal Service delivery times.

Please consider your own mail receiving circumstances. The Family Tree is shipped rolled in a 2"x25" sturdy mailing tube which will not fit in some apartment mail boxes.

Missing Packages--

If tracking shows delivered and you do not have your package we will help you locate it. The Postal Inspector asks us to verify that you have checked with family members and neighbors to see if they collected the package. If not, please check around your property to see if the postman placed it beside a back door, in your garage, or concealed it in your landscaping. It is not considered mis-directed if you moved and did not leave a forwarding address with the Post Office.

If these answers are no, we will request an investigation by the Postal Inspector. That office takes loss complaints very seriously. Investigations go pretty quickly now, as many postmen have GPS devices on which they scan and record where they left the package.

International Customers--

We are delighted to ship internationally to many locations. Please be familiar with your own country's customs duties, VAT, delivery fees, or taxes, as these are your responsibility.

We accurately prepare customs forms, and do not mark items as gift, sample, or low value, which should insure quicker processing through customs and more reliable delivery. Just be aware that once your package crosses borders we have no control over it.

Please wait a month from shipment notification before deciding your shipment is lost. In some countries, 4-6 weeks delivery is not unusual. Tracking is often not possible in international situations. We follow United States law and Etsy guidance in determining whether or not we can ship to a particular country.

European Union Customers--Under Etsy's policies you have 14 days after receipt of your purchase to return it for a full refund including original shipping charges to you. You are responsible for return charges to seller.

UK Shoppers--The following is from the Royal Mail website--

Receiving mail from countries outside the UK
All mail that enters the UK may be examined by Customs. Normally letters, postcards and parcels containing only documents or similar forms of correspondence are excluded.
If you are receiving a parcel from a country outside the EU it may incur Customs charges. Any parcel assessed as being liable for Customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8.
Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are liable to import VAT. Gifts between private individuals over the value of £36 are also liable for VAT. Goods and gifts over these values may also be liable for customs duty. You no longer have to pay Customs duty for goods up to the value of £135, however you will still be required to pay import VAT and excise duty where applicable.

Alternate Shippers--

Also note that if you ask to use an alternate shipper, some may add very high brokerage fees to your shipment, in addition to your country's customs fees, duties, or taxes. These brokerage fees do not show up on our end when we quote your shipping, and we cannot be responsible for them.
Refunds and Exchanges
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Please feel free to contact us immediately with any issues. Of course, you may return your purchase for refund (less shipping charges) within 7 days after tracking shows delivery. Custom orders ship only after your approval and are not returnable.

We ask that you contact us through the Etsy convo system for return instructions. Please re-box and package securely. Do not return jewelry unboxed in a padded envelope. Poor packaging may result in damage and a 20% restocking fee. Returned items must be in original unworn condition to issue you a refund. No family tree chart will be refunded if you have begun lettering it.

Occasionally a label will be damaged in shipping, or a package tear. We recommend putting a "To/From" label inside the package in case contents and package have to be re-united at the post office.

A refund will be made through your method of payment after we receive the returned item.

Art and Artisan want to earn your positive feedback by giving you the finest designs and happiest shopping experience possible.
Additional policies and FAQs
Colors--

Knowing that different computer monitors reproduce colors differently, we try to fully describe colors. If a custom-fitted bracelet or necklace has significant changes, I will send you a photo by convo for approval. It speeds your custom order if you will check convos after ordering, in case a point needs to be clarified.

Earring Styles--

Most earrings can be converted from hook to post style. For those with unpierced ears, I keep silver plated and gold plated clips in stock as well and will be happy to convert to clip where the earring style permits. Don't be shy about your special requirements. Should you wish precious metal clips or surgical steel posts, they would be a custom order, with additional time for production. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bracelet and Necklace Customization--

Please always use a tape measure to get your correct wrist size, and add 1/2-inch. Do not simply measure your favorite bracelet. Different sized beads will fit you differently--some handcrafted lampworked beads can result in 1 1/2" length difference. I'll make length adjustments to bracelets before shipping, where possible, at no additional charge. Extra charges may apply for extensive customization, but will be fully explained to you before the work is done. My listed measurement is for fit based on a measuring cone, actual flat length is greater. If in doubt, convo and we'll work through it. If you miss measure and send a piece back for refitting, you will need to pay the shipping.

Special Orders--

Yes! I'm delighted to accept special jewelry orders. After receiving your instructions and deposit, I will temporarily assemble the custom piece and email you a photo for approval. After approval, you would make the final payment and I will complete and ship your order.

I keep an amazing range of materials on hand, but please allow time for me to order any additional supplies and assemble your custom order. Note that where custom lampwork beads, portrait beads, etc. are specific to your project, they will be billed as a separate supply order, including shipping. Should you cancel your custom project, those pre-paid items will still be shipped to you.

Our Custom Order cutoff date for Christmas is Thanksgiving. With increased shipping times around the holidays, we just can't get in custom supplies, make and have approved a special piece, and get it to you in time. Thank you for your understanding.
