My shop is yet another stage of a life defined my tireless desire to express myself creatively.......

In my teens I discovered photography which I used to record my outdoor adventures while growing up in Oregon (climbing, river rafting, hiking, backpacking, kayaking). Only film of course in those days and I augmented my "image collection" by learning to process the film and print it in the darkroom.

As does everyone at some point or another, I let the parental manse, moving out on my own. As is also the case for everyone, I needed furniture. Though I despised wood shop class in junior high, I persevered and bit-by-bit, taught myself woodworking. Over the course of 30-years, I advanced from a simple TV stand to small boxes and on to desks, armoires, dressers and the like. Memorable pieces include a three-drawer dresser with an extension to the top so I also served as a changing table that I built in advance of the birth of my first child, Hannah. I also built a swinging cradle for her. Recently, with my son I regifted a wooden "tone drum" which I originally built for him in 1994 and this past Christmas we together, passed it along to my 2 y.o. grandson.

About 14-years ago I sold my last house and moved into a condominium in Seattle. The significance is that w/o a house and the accompanying space, continuing woodworking became at best, very inconvenient. So....... back to photography which had as every knows gone primarily digital. Visions of new gear danced before my eyes and I didn't hesitate to act. A progression of ever improving camera gear, learning Photoshop, Lightroom, Dreamweaver and Muse (web site building apps) and even some old, film cameras have filled the intervening years.

20,000+ images later and I have a trove of material that I think, and others tell me, contains some outstanding shots. You will of course be the judge of that. Collected while traipsing far and wide along the streets of Seattle, exploring the woods around my parents home in Eugene, OR, exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, many parts of the rest of the U.S. and here and there around the world. Can you identify some of those place based upon what you see. Feel free to reach out and tell me where you think an image was taken and I'll be happy to validate or give you the actual location.

The truth is that while I've been fortunate to explore many distant lands, all I have to do is step outside of my building and I have more interesting subject matter than I can possibly capture. And, it's changing constantly driven by the time of day, by the seasons, by the "pulse" of the city.
