5 out of 5 starsSeems well made. I did not expect the tagua nut to feel plastic like, but it is comfortable to wear.

Fair Trade Jewelry: Helping Artisans and the Environment
Welcome to Artisans in the Andes, a fair trade business. Our story started several years ago when Tracey and Rob moved to Ecuador, searching for a way to help move people out of poverty. Ecuador is a treasure trove of talented artisans with great talent but few resources to grow their business. Working together with a handful of artisans and using a fair trade model, we aim to bring you luscious, eco friendly handmade jewelry and scarves.
We especially love bold statement necklaces made with organic seeds and nuts from the Amazon rainforest, like tagua nuts and acai seeds. Its pretty cool to offer items that help preserve the rainforest through harvests from native palm trees. We think that sustainable use of what the rainforest already provides is an excellent alternative to cutting down the forest for farming or mining.
We are passionate about supporting the handmade movement. Ecuador is not a tourist haven, and it’s hard for local artists to earn enough money to adequately support their families. Through Artisans in the Andes we bring Ecuadorian crafts to the world, work directly in a team with local artists and help to preserve their unique techniques for future generations.
