Life in blue

The cyanotype process was one of the first non-silver technologies used to create photographic images. Originating in the 1840's, it was known by the term "blueprint", with its blue background reproductions of large architectural and mechanical drawings.

What are these photographs about?
My work contemplates mortality. Everything eventually breaks down, whether it be tangible, like the lush branches of a tree waning to a skeletal form, or intangible, such as memory. The natural world becomes a metaphor of our own earthly experience as nature constantly undergoes change and transformation.
