As a life long crafter I understand the importance of having the right tools and supplies necessary to complete a project.

Stencils make everyone an instant artist and are an inexpensive way to update your home or turn that garage sale find into something special and unique.

We specialize in vintage and retro style stencils at affordable prices.

So what is a stencil?

A stencil is a piece of mylar with shapes or letters cut out of it that makes a picture when you apply paint to just about any surface you can think of:

Walls and ceilings
Floors and concrete
Mirrors or glass
Art canvas
Wooden boards
Lamp shades
Stone or ceramic surfaces

You can use house paint, fabric paint, craft paint, acrylics, stencil creams, inks or glass etching cream with our stencils. If you choose to clean your stencil follow the manufacturer's recommended instructions on how to clean up their product.

Stenciling tips for best results:

Make sure all edges of the stencil are adhered to your surface so the paint can't seep underneath and make a mess.

Remove the stencil as soon as you are finished applying the paint.

If you plan to clean the stencil do so right after you use it and while the paint is still wet.

When stenciling over a painted surface apply a sealer to that surface before using the stencil. This will prevent lifting up paint when removing the stencil.

Frequently asked questions
What is a stencil?

A stencil is a piece of mylar plastic with a design or picture cut out of it. When paint is applied to the cut out portions the design is then transferred to your surface.

Why use a stencil?

• Stencils make everyone an instant artist
• Anyone can stencil
• Stenciling is very inexpensive compared to using messy wallpaper
• Stenciling is an inexpensive way to redecorate
• Update a piece of clothing or furniture
• Add a personal touch and your own style to just about anything
• Add charm or whimsy to your home

• Paint
• A brush, sponge or sponge roller & pan
• Spray adhesive (we recommend Elmer’s) or blue painter’s tape

How to care for your stencil

If you are using a water based paint just clean your stencil with soap and warm water.

• Craft paint
• Fabric paint
• Stencil cream
• Wall or house paint
• Acrylic paint
• Spray paint
• Chalk paint
• Etching cream for glass & mirror

• Walls, trim & cabinets
• Furniture
• Wood or cement floors
• Fabric, pillows, clothing, shower curtains, lamp shades, etc.
• Wood signs
• Paper & cardboard
• Glass & mirror
• Virtually any surface you can think of that will accept paint

TIP: Practice first. A cereal box works well.

First, adhere the stencil to your surface. Some people prefer using blue painter’s tape to secure the four sides while others prefer to use spray adhesive.

A little goes a long way. Just a mist is all you need. Always follow the instructions on the can. Spray the back of the stencil and then let it set for 2 to 3 minutes. This makes the adhesive less sticky so you can reposition the stencil if you need to. Once the stencil is placed where you want it roll a brayer or a can of peas back and forth up and down over the stencil to make sure you have good adhesion to your surface.

Applying the paint

When applying the paint just remember less is better. You can always add more paint. Dip your brush in the paint and then remove most of the paint. If you put a big glob of paint it may bleed under the surface of the stencil. When you are finished applying the paint

REMOVE THE STENCIL IMMEDIATELY. Do not leave the stencil on your surface while the paint dries.

Some of the paint bled underneath the stencil. How do I fix that?

No worries!

If you notice the bleed under after the paint is dried just use the same color of paint as your surface and paint over it.

If the paint is still wet take a damp sponge, paper towel or QTip and wipe it away.
