A lovely soft shimmery silver to surround ‘Spring Courage’ and, of course, perfectly beautiful framing work by Mr. Shanabrook!

Grace and a pretty face, and such bravery! I was instantly smitten by Mr. Shanabrook’s little evergreen! That lovely thick white plume of rain and fog engulfing the little tree, looking so like a breath huffing and puffing, puts me in mind of “The Little Engine That Could”. And it is her tenacity that stirs me most: her lovely confident posturing in the face of adversity, deeply rooted as she is, and holding fast to the incline. She’s truly Hemingway’s “grace under pressure”; a spirit of resolve, rather than defiance. And, then of course, there’s her integrity and commitment! Grace, a pretty face, and bravery! She’s not only a sweet story with a moral, but a credo for a life lived well.

Although, I initially chose “The Silas”, I ultimately purchased “The Constance” for “Lighthouse” at Mr. Shanabrook’s suggestion, and “The Constance” is the perfect frame for this painting! The gold-leaf gives depth to the rich brown field and makes the color ‘pop’! And, as always, Mr. Shanabrook’s framing work is impeccably beautiful! If ever you’re in a quandary over frame choice, don’t hesitate to elicit Mr. Shanabrook’s assistance; he’s most generous with his time and expertise!

This is such a beautifully graphic and riveting composition by Mr. Shanabrook! Captured at the moment its façade is half lit by its lamp’s blinding brilliance, this lighthouse stands in lovely contrast to the stark and muddy pall of the sky. This duality is intrinsic to the very bones of the lighthouse, and is poignantly depicted in this wonderful masterpiece! At once a beacon and guide, stalwart and faithful in calm winds and storm, there is a sense of vulnerability to the lighthouse, not in its construction, nor in its stones, wood, or mortar, but in its station; it’s a visceral loneliness inherent in the remote outer reaches and isolated landscapes that become its foundation. Yet here, awash in a luminous flash, the lighthouse casts a bright hope upon a vast and dark sea.

The perfect silvery sparkle to surround a fairy tale, and beautiful, flawless framing work by Mr. Shanabrook! Painting and frame are magical!

‘Happily ever after’ describes the perpetual enjoyment and delightful consequence of owning a masterpiece by Mr. Shanabrook, who is a consummate storyteller of the venerable kind! His landscapes are nothing short of spellbinding tales painted with the richest of imaginative detail! One will never know whether it is despite or because of the sulky little turn to her sky that this late afternoon is so winsome and pretty, only that she is the loveliest occasion for tea and tales! And it’s at this precise hour that she encounters the fairest of fields dressed in the velvety green softness of a new spring day, and sees in this comely field a proper venue for a story in the making. And so it is that a pinch of hope and a smidgen of enchantment conspire, and a story takes wing to flit and weave among the clouds, dusting them gold!
