About

Eco Friendly Recycled Jewelry Handcrafted with Love

Ashley Adler Studio is a one-person studio located in the Boston area offering fine jewelry for everyday wear, special occasions, and weddings. I make all my jewelry from high quality raw materials, including recycled precious metals from Harmony Ethical Metals and tarnish resistant recycled Argentium sterling silver. Using recycled gold and silver in my work reduces mining and environmental degradation common in the jewelry industry. My environmental commitment is very important to me.

I find joy in and take great pride in my work, from answering customers' questions, to making each item just for the person who ordered it. I enjoy hand-stamping the recycled gift boxes I use to package my items, and I find it quite satisfying to pack up an order just right so that it arrives at your door in perfect condition.

My hope is that you will enjoy wearing your jewelry just as much as I have enjoyed making it for you, and that you will treasure it for many years to come.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got my first taste of metalworking as a high school senior. I fell in love immediately and spent most of my free time in the studio, playing around with metal, a saw, and a torch.

After a detour as a theatrical scene design major learning how to draw accurately and paint walls to look like things they are not, I packed up my two big, fuzzy dogs and moved to Maine to study Human Ecology at College of the Atlantic where everything is a little bit of something else.

Currently living in Boston with my husband and our two dogs, I continue to find inspiration in the interconnected world I studied at COA, and in the natural beauty I found in my backyard, Acadia National Park. My work is influenced by plants, animals, art, theatre, and science. There's mathematics in the form of a curving leaf or a blossoming flower, physics and chemistry in the structure of a bracelet.

Everything in my shop is designed and made by me personally. Everything is made from raw materials like silver and copper sheet, wire, and metal clay. Although I don't use any premade charms or pendants, etc, I do use commercial earring posts and friction backs, chains (which I finish by hand), and sometimes bezel cups for small stones. I am careful to disclose my materials properly in each of my listings so it is clear where a commercial component has been used.

When you buy from Ashley Adler Studio you are getting something truly original and handmade while supporting one girl’s quest for alchemical happiness.

Shipping
Please refer to the processing time given in each listing. Most made to order items ship within two weeks, but some items ship sooner. "Ready to ship" items ship within 3 business days of payment. If you order multiple items with different processing times, the longer time will apply. "Custom" orders will ship as agreed upon in our contract.

All items are packaged in hand-stamped, 100% recycled (77% post-consumer, 23% pre-consumer) kraft-colored gift boxes ready for gift giving. Earring cards are 100% post-consumer recycled fiber and acid-free.

Your item may be shipped in a reused cardboard box and/or with reused packing material. The boxes and packing material are in excellent condition. New boxes and packing can be used on request. Thank you for helping me reduce our burden on the environment.

US Buyers:
Standard shipping is USPS First Class Mail (delivery in 3 days to most of the US, but it can take longer.) All domestic shipments include USPS Delivery Confirmation, tracking, and insurance.

International Buyers:
The buyer is responsible for all charges incurred, such as customs duties, taxes, or fees. These vary by country and the amount of your purchase; I cannot predict them. Fees can sometimes be lower if the total value of your order is under a certain amount; the buyer is responsible for knowing the limits in his or her country. Items will be represented accurately on customs forms. I cannot ship jewelry to countries where it is prohibited, if you order from such a country, your order will be regretfully cancelled.

Etsy has provided some information about duties and taxes assessed when importing items to other countries:
https://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2010/shipping-how-to-custom-forms-duties-and-taxes/

For items under $400, standard shipping is First Class Mail International Package Service. For items over $400, the standard shipping price is for Priority Mail International. All international shipments include insurance. Shipments to Canada also include Delivery Confirmation. Faster shipping options are available (though generally very expensive), please contact me for details.

Please note that international orders totaling more than $400 must be shipped either Global Express Guaranteed service, Express Mail International service, or Priority Mail International service (other than Flat Rate Envelopes or Small Flat Rate Priced Boxes). If you are interested in an international order totaling more than $400, consider splitting your order to save on shipping using First Class Mail International Package Service. I am happy to help you figure out the most economical shipping method.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing. I am always happy to assist you!

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 14 days of delivery to arrange a refund or exchange. Items must be returned in original and undamaged condition and mailed in sturdy packaging; the returned packages must be insured. Even when receiving a full refund, the buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. If you would like, I can provide a prepaid return label; the cost of the label will be deducted from your refund or exchange.

Custom items and earrings may be returned or exchanged, less 30% of the purchase price. Items are considered custom if the buyer requested an item not already listed, a design alteration, or personalization such as stamped text.

In case of loss or damage in transit, items are shipped with insurance, tracking, and delivery confirmation when available.

If, at any point, you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me.

RINGS
I understand that it can be difficult to determine your correct ring size. I am happy to correct a ring size one time for the cost of shipping; if additional resizing is required a fee will be charged. Please refer to the exchange policy above.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please note that some of my items are patinaed. A patina is the result of a chemical reaction between metal and the environment that changes over time. Most items can be protected with a layer of lacquer or wax and some items can be cleaned and re-patinaed. Even if your item is protected, the lacquer or wax may wear away over time and the patina may change.

Items are made in a dog-loving and smoke-free environment. If you have any questions not addressed here, please contact me.

JEWELRY CARE
Please avoid exposure to lotions, cleaners, other chemicals, or abrasive substances. Do not wear while sleeping, swimming, or using power tools. Put on your jewelry after makeup, lotions, etc. to minimize contact. Most jewelry is best cleaned with a polishing cloth made specifically for this purpose or with mild soap and water, then dried with a soft cloth. Although Argentium is tarnish-resistant, it will eventually tarnish. For best tarnish resistance and extra protection from everyday pollutants, fingermarks, and watermarks use Goddard’s Silver Cloths, and store in an acid-free container with an anti-tarnish strip. Store your jewelry items separately from each other to avoid scratching.

A NOTE ABOUT FINISHES
Finishes may change with wear. Rings especially may be scratched by harder objects handled by the wearer. Oxidized and Signature finishes may wear off over time. All metal may eventually react with the environment and tarnish. Humidity, salt, sulphur, and other chemicals can accelerate the rate at which your jewelry tarnishes. I am happy to refinish your jewelry at any time for the cost of shipping.

CUSTOM ORDERS: This applies to requests for custom items, not to existing listings that have customizable options. If you are interested in working with me on a custom item, please contact me so we can see what you're looking for. After our basic discussion of the design, I require a non-refundable design deposit of 30% of the estimated price to continue working on the design.

After I receive the design deposit, I will work with you to incorporate your feedback and make sure that the design is what you envisioned. Once we finalize the design, I will send you a proposal with the specifications of the design and a finalized price. If you do not wish to continue working with me on the proposed project, the design fee can not be refunded or exchanged for design work on a different item. As the precious metals market is volatile and the cost of materials may change, the price quoted to you is available for a limited time. If you do not approve the contract in the amount of time specified, I can provide a new quote.

*Gold: 1 business day
*Silver: 3 business days
*Copper/Brass/Base Metals: 7 business days

Once the design and final price is approved by you, I require payment in full before crafting your custom order. Custom orders can be returned or exchanged by contacting me within 7 days of delivery; the amount refunded or available for exchange towards a different item will be 70% of the final purchase price. Payment of the design fee and/or purchase of the final item does not transfer rights to the buyer; the design remains my property and I may choose to make more of the item (or similar items) for sale to others.
