About

It all started in Mexico....

My love affair with yarn started when my husband and I were first married and living on his ranch in Mexico. Some of my best memories of my time there are sitting alongside my husband's Grandmother, Mom and sisters, learning new crochet techniques and marveling at the amazing things that can be created with just a simple ball of yarn. After that I was hooked (pardon the pun).

Back in the states, after we bought our first house I was looking for something I could do while staying home with our kids, and that's when I discovered amigurumi (the Japanese art of crocheting toys) . After serveral projects I finally felt brave enough to tackle designing my own patterns, resulting in my first successful crocheted owl! When I decided to open a shop to sell my creations, I chose the name The Yarn Owl Boutique in honor of that first pattern.

I'm now the mom of 3 children and things are crazier than ever! But as any mom knows, we all need something to relieve the daily stress of parenting and life in general, and that's what crochet does for me. The satisfaction of seeing an idea go from notes and sketches to a finished product or finding that perfect skein of yarn for a special project brings me a ridiculous amount of joy, and now I'm thrilled to have the chance to share my passion with you!

I wouldn't be able to do any of this if it weren't for my superman husband who works so hard and very kindly refrains from commenting when i come home with yet another skein of yarn, and also tolerates the sad state of disarray in the house when I'm working on a new project and have to finish just one more row....He and my babies are my greatest blessing and I thank God every day that He allows me to spend my days caring for them and doing what I love.

I will contact you when your order is ready to ship and throughout the creation process, if applicable.

I ship most orders by USPS First Class or Priority mail. Refunds and Exchanges
If an item arrives damaged or the item you receive is not the item you ordered, you may return it to me for either a refund or an exchange. If an item you receive is simply not what you expected, let me know and I'll do everything I can to fix it.

However, please keep in mind that every computer screen is different, and while I do my best to give a true representation of each item in the shop, colors might not be exactly the same as in the photos. This is just part of the nature of handmade work (and to me, part of the fun!)

Cancellation Policy:
For ready made orders, you can cancel any time for a full refund up until you receive notice that the item has shipped, usually the morning following my receipt of the order.

For custom orders, you can cancel for a full refund up until you receive your first "Work in Progress" message or photo, usually 2 days after I have received any reference materials/measurements/other information needed for the project.

Refunds on Custom Orders:
If you decide you must cancel after work has begun but before the item is finished, you can receive a refund in the amount of 50% of the purchase price and 100% refund for shipping costs. This is to cover the cost of materials and time spent working. If you decide to cancel after I have received materials from you, they will be immediately returned to you, if applicable.

When ordering a custom item, I will send you progress reports with photos throughout the process. No finished item will ship until you have approved the final result. If for whatever reason you're not thrilled with the item I will happily rework it to the best of my ability to make sure you're satisfied. As always, contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Additionally, please note that as the creator/designer I retain full rights to reuse any work as I see fit, including rights to print and display images of all custom items both online and in print for sale, promotional purposes or to use as samples for potential customers. All personal information will be kept private. If for any reason you do not wish for me to use images of a custom item you have purchased, please contact me to discuss your concerns.
