Step into my shop where you'll find some of the pieces I have created in my studio on the Isle of Arran in Scotland. I'm inspired by the textures, patterns and colours of the world around me. The formation of rocks can ignite my creativity as much as a leaf, the ripples in the sand on a beach or the colours of the woods in autumn. I love to work in copper and silver, assemble sea glass, driftwood and beach pottery into jewellery pieces and I love colourful gemstones and glass. And I love to mix all of them. The result are unique pieces of jewellery.

About

Open Your Eyes - Inspiration is Everywhere.

Already as a child I was fascinated by the shapes, patterns, textures and colours of the world around me. Being the child of parents who were young during WW2, I was urged to learn something "sensible" and "solid". So I ended up wanting to become a minister or historian but then worked as a journalist, editor and finally marketing and PR director. Needless to say, it didn't satisfy me the way it should have. Eventually I moved with my husband to the west of Scotland to have a child and a guesthouse. Being a chef was creative. At least for a while but there was still something more to explore. I started out, flexing my creative muscles.

If you asked my husband, he would tell you there was the year of quilting, the year of cow and chicken painting, the year of textile art and the year of paper crafts. And then I discovered the beauty of beads, and sea glass. Which eventually lead to the desire of being able to set some bits into silver. And so my work developed.

The Isle of Arran had finally managed to unite my artistic search with my deep interest in history, although it took me almost two decades to find my unique way of expression.

Shape, texture and patterns are the basis of my metalwork. I love to work in silver and copper. The inspiration for my work can come from basalt rock formations, the bark patterns of a birch tree or the way old black houses were built. Since I have always admired the skills of our ancestors hundreds and even thousands of years back in history, I decided for myself to use as few machines as possible to produce and finish my metal jewellery. Therefore, all I have on my workbench are a blow torch, hammers (a lot of them!), saws, files and a small hand held rotary drill which is mainly used to drill holes. I enjoy feeling how the metal changes when I treat it with fire and water, seeing it transform under my blowing hammer and taking on its final look while I file at it for hours and polish it with sanding paper. For me it is an almost archaic experience which brings to life the old myths in which whole worlds would be forged by fire and water and then shaped into being.

I still love to play with colours too. My range of fashion jewellery lives of vibrant beads and is based on colourful moments in my life. The inspiration for it comes from the nature around me and from years of travelling to some of the most beautiful places on earth.

Last but certainly not least, I love to play with things that can have a second life by reshaping them into a new meaning: sea glass and ceramic shards from Arran's and Scotland's beaches, pebbles and rocks on the shore, copper cables and tubes that have been discarded by electricians and plumbers and other finds that can be turned into jewellery. And no, I don't have any inhibitions to mix thrift with sterling silver either.

You can find my work at Pooch Boutique in Cladach (Brodick) on the Isle of Arran and visit me there in my studio. If you like to know what I'm up to, please, visit my facebook page or my shop on etsy where I list some of my work.

Started out wanting to become a historian, worked as journalist, editor, marketing and public relations director, turned into a guesthouse owner and chef to finally turn into an artisan and create jewellery. I still do write though.

If you have a shop or boutique, I am certainly prepared to produce unique pieces or even a collection for you.

Anything on etsy can be dispatched within two working days. Custom made articles and bridal jewellery will take longer, depending on the kind and number of pieces. Please, contact me.

Please, note that no items are shipped until payment is received. All payments are due upon placing of order. After completing the Checkout, please remember to proceed to pay for your purchase by clicking PayPal/Payment button.

If the order is not paid for within 5 working days the purchase will be cancelled.

Proof of posting is always obtained.

As a rule, I ship to your PayPal address. Please make sure that your Etsy and PayPal addresses are correct. I do not ship to country other than that in your PayPal address. In some circumstances I might wave this rule, but it is your responsibility to contact me about it first before purchasing.

You pay only one postage fee. No charge for any additional items. Items packed/gift-wrapped at my own discretion, so if you're particular on the subject (as when it's a gift for someone else) and you want something special, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Please, note that I am living on a Scottish Island. Although our infrastructure works usually the same way like anywhere else in the UK, it occasionally happens that adverse weather conditions delay a shipment for a day or two which would mostly concern British and European destinations.

Each case is individual. As a general rule, returns are accepted on all unworn items, except pierced ear earrings (for hygiene reasons). Postage costs are non-refundable. Of course, there are exceptions. I don't want to be too rigid with this rule as I want you to be happy with your purchase and with shopping with me. Refunds will be issued upon safe return of the item(s). It is your responsibility to obtain proof of posting when returning items.

If you're buying for someone else as a present, please let me know at the time of purchasing and I'll extend that guarantee for up to a month.
Additional policies and FAQs
Important note on gemstones, stones, and beads used#
I try to provide as accurate information about materials I use as I can.
However, sometimes, in the cases of semi-precious stones, the sources I buy from and/or the manufacturers do not fully disclose the exact origin or manufacture of stones. There are also a lot of misleading yet accepted names for stones.
My main priority is the design and the look of the piece. If you are very particular about the exact nature of the stone, please do not hesitate to ask me & I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

Any semiprecious stones or crystals labelled as AAA, AA, AB etc. carry this label only when the suppliers fully disclose origin and nature of their products.
