Tools to bring astronomy down to earth.

Many years ago, I started teaching science, because I love understanding how the world works, and I wanted to help other people see it, too. Along the way, I wrote a great deal of material, and designed and developed numerous teaching aids, all with the aim of helping the observant and the curious learn to recognize rules and patterns in the workings of the world they live in. Sometimes I would look at what I created, and cringe. But I also had quite a few good ideas, if I do say so myself, and sometimes even the bad ideas could become good with revision and development. Now I am attempting to organize, prettify, and publish the good stuff.

In the field of astronomy, I created a number of sundials, planispheres, and other makable projects of various kinds. Most of my designs started out as paper handouts, and I make many of these paper creations freely available for kids, parents, and educators on my educational astronomy website. You can find the address in the links below. I am trying to turn some of these designs into wooden or metal items, and make them available for sale, both for the fun of creation, and in the hopes that sales will help support the growth of my website financially. I currently have only "compass coasters" ready for sale, but I should have planispheres available soon, and in the future, I plan to add astrolabes, and sundials of various designs, plus whatever else I can think of along the way.
