About

Wandering Feet & Creative Hands

Atelier Art Postal is the creative response to a habit formed while wandering. Genevieve bought her first pad of watercolour postcards before heading off for a year of backpacking around Europe. The block of paper, along with a pocket-sized pan of 12 watercolours, were small enough not to add too much weight to her already full pack. Little did she know how those cards would become an integral part of her travels.

Taking time to capture memories with ink and paint slows down the traveller, giving time to fully absorb details of each new location. Painted postcards were sent to family and friends around the world and, to her delight, later found over a year later displayed on fridges, propped on mantelpieces along with family photos, and pinned to boards overtop bills and shopping lists.

Experience teaches us that each traveller walks away from a new destination with unique perspectives not often found among the racks of generic postcards. The goal at Atelier Art Postal is to provide you with an alternative, shareable memory destined to be cherished and displayed.

I am a Jack-Of-All-Trades artist whose family and career has taught me the joy of flexible roots. And so I balance a life of cozy homebase living and footloose wandering, always with a pen and stack of paper in my pack.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised order refunds

Due to the customized nature of my work I cannot accept returns of finished, original postcards. However, if at any point during the design process (which usually takes 1-2 days via email correspondence) you wish to cancel your order I will provide a full refund.

How does the design process work for custom illustrations?

After receiving your order for a custom illustration I will contact you to request details: what is the subject; photographic reference; important elements such as favourite colours, least favourite colours, clothing and accessories if this is a person's portrait; body pose (eg: action shot versus seated or standing portrait). No detail is too small at this stage.

I then create a rough draft sketch in pencil and ink. There is room for up to 2 revisions. Once you are happy with the design and layout I proceed with the final illustration.

Prior to shipping I will send you an image of the finished piece for final approval. If you are unhappy with my work this is your last opportunity to cancel your order for a full refund.

Print details

I print everything myself in my studio using an inkjet printer with high quality pigment inks on certified archival paper with a minimum 300 gsm (140 lb) thickness.

Returns and refunds on prints?

I provide a full refund on items mailed back to me within 7 days of receipt by the customer. I do not pay for return shipping. Message me once the print has been mailed, I will refund the original purchase total minus any additional shipping costs once I receive the returned print.

Original art work details

All originals are created using indelible, lightfast ink and aquarelle paint on archival, acid free, 300gsm (140lb) watercolour paper.
