Jewelry Selected with a Love for Time and Place
For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by the past as reflected in material culture. My uncles were antiques dealers and had just about every kind of antique; from jewelry to musical instruments to fine art.
It was the tiny brilliance of their antique jewelry pieces that attracted my attention the most. My uncles would patiently teach me all about each piece... its technical aspects (how to identify the gemstones, what the piece was made of, how it was constructed), its historical context (where it came from, how to tell its age), and its aesthetic context (what style it was, and its place in human history).
I began collecting my own pieces using money from babysitting jobs, and so it has continued!
I discovered Etsy in 2011... I love the shop concept, a personalized space online where I can share my knowledge and my passion with others. I had started with a focus on bridal jewelry, but have branched out into international jewelry since.
Fine jewelry adds to your beauty and to your wealth. Charles Dickens called it "portable property". Vintage jewelry is a far better value for your dollar than modern. Did you know that the average modern engagement and wedding ring is made to last only four years?! Not a good investment! Vintage pieces were made to last generations, like love itself! And it costs so much less... a win-win if there ever was one... plus it's "green" and conflict-free.
I feel privileged to be part of Etsy, and a part of people's journey through history. I look forward to serving you!

Frequently asked questions
Vintage/Antique baby/children's jewelry almost certainly does not meet metals safety standards for youngsters of today. Therefore I can only sell it for adult use.
I cannot guarantee sterility of earring posts/hooks/wires (and/or other pieces where this may be an issue). Please purchase and use at your own risk.
May try to sell you work your ring doesn't need! Be on your guard, refer to Item Details for info re: prongs and bands.
COLORS ARE APPROXIMATE:
Colors may display inaccurately on screens.
RING SIZES are approximate, due to jewelers' ring sizing mandrels not being completely standardized.
STONE SIZES are necessarily estimates, because in most cases, I cannot measure the depth of a stone due to its being in a setting. I measure the diameter (or length and width) of a stone with digital calipers, and estimate its size (carat weight) from its span.
BANGLE SIZE: Please note the inner diameter for the bangle. I suggest you cut out a mock-up on sturdy cardboard to see how it will fit you before ordering.
Gift wrapping and packaging
The outer packaging is discreet, nobody will know there is jewelry inside.
I do not use my shop name on the return address; this is for the item's safety in transit and for privacy on arrival, as jewelry items are often bought as gifts.
Pieces are sent in small carton boxes tied with rustic string, or cushioned inside handmade wrapping paper gift bags.
