To offer practical items that are functional but yet fun!

BEGINNINGS: I had been making hooded towels for baby gifts for years and they always were well liked and often used. So I thought that others may want to purchase them as well. So I started looking at ways to market my product and etsy just seemed to fit!

WHERE I AM LOCATED: South suburbs of Chicago. I attend local craft fairs throughout the year as well.

SHOP NAME: I am fortunate enough to be the Aunt of 18 nieces and nephews just on my side of the family, with 9 more on my husband's side (and have just become a great aunt as well)! Many of them call me Auntie M so I thought I should incorporate that into my shop name. Using the word CREATIONS after it allows me to add any sort of handmade item that I can come up with.

INSPIRATION FOR MY PRODUCTS: I am a very practical sort of person but like things to be colorful and fun as well so I strive to offer items that would be useful to many different people! I want my items to be well used so I strive to make a very high quality product so each creation will last through many uses. For example: I have been using my hooded towels for our daughter for over 8 years and they still look great! I love to see people at craft shows looking and touching my products and then trying to decide what to purchase. It gives me great joy to see someone excited about what I have to offer and especially when they return to purchase more.

GOALS: To create items that others will find useful. To offer top quality products and stand behind them. To offer integrity and great customer service. To continue to add new items so I can reach a broader base of customers. To bring glory to God in all I do!

DESCRIPTION OF MY WORK SPACE: very organized, items conveniently located for efficiency, colorful, supplies for each type of product organized together. I like to use vintage baskets, tins, old glass jars and wooden boxes to organize and display my supplies. I have found that re-purposing items helps cut costs and adds a fun flair to my work space. Finished products are stored in air tight tubs so they stay fresh and ready to ship. I am still dreaming of my ideal work space for that someday when we will finish our basement.

WHO HELPS: My shop has items that I have sewn myself. I do the creating, shopping, producing, photos, listing, customer contact and shipping all myself. However my husband is my biggest supporter and he encourages me to hang in there when I may get discouraged. He never gets upset when dinner is late because I was consumed with sewing that afternoon. He also helps haul my items to local craft shows and is willing to sit beside me all day while I talk with customers. Our daughter is my cheerleader and gets so excited when I have a sale. She tells others about my shop and loves to be close by while I create. I have my work-space in our basement where she plays so that we can talk and be together while I work.

FUTURE GOALS: To keep creating new products. To have my own website shop. To offer more products for a wider range of buyers- more items for older children and for adults.

I love to sew and decided to make the items I have given as baby gifts available to others through opening my own shop. I have enjoyed creating new items to try to reach a broader audience. I have more ideas so stay tuned for new items!
