Absolutely amazing. It was a large, while I wear mediums, but it fits perfectly. It's in great condition, feels great, and looks awesome. I am ecstatic about one of my new favorite cardigans

About

Auntie Vals Closet

I think everyone should own a piece of history, and often contemplate what stories they may have.

I have habit of finding pieces that need a home and want them to find them one~ If something has lasted a long time it deserves it.
How Auntie Val’s closet came to be was people liked to check out what I have in my closet. When my daughter came home from college break we say I loves you and she heads to my closet and asks while in there “anything new mum?”
It started when I became fascinated with anything Victorian, looking back on my tender years I guess I found it rather romantic. Possibly typical for a young girl to fancy. I also grew up in an old farm-house built in 1714 which held much mystery and adventure for me and my friends.
The Victorian era was interesting; whole mourning jewelry thing, dressing in black to show mourning, walking that widows walk = morbid romance. I kinda liked it and still do. Maybe it was the making of jewelry out of your dead lovers hair or the intricacies of the clothing design and workmanship which also transcends to other items of that era. I later studied with fellow artisans and independently of the jewelry from that time period.
However I think the ball really started rolling when my moms friend, a fellow antique dealer had a really cool bright red blouse from the 1930′s and my mom bought it for me at the age of eleven.
I recall getting picked on because it was a vivid orange/red and was different. I did not care, I loved it, no one else had one like it, it got me hooked.
I still have that orange/red blouse in the same pristine condition and wear it to this day.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

Vintage sizes are not the same as today's modern sizes and I am more than happy to take more measurements if you need them or convert measurements to centimeters; I am in process of updating measurements to include centimeters.
All measurements are taken of items when laying flat. Multiply times two to get the measurement.
I suggest comparing to a similar item you have.
Bust is measured from armpit seam to armpit seam.
Waist measurement is taken the same way at the narrowest point of waist
Hips are also done the same at the widest point of hips
Shoulders are measured from shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the front of the item.

I love my seamstress, tailor and shoe cobbler :)
