Joy and Serendipity

Thanks so much for checking out my shop! I'm so sorry that it is closing, but due to family health issues, summer vacation, and my return to college, I am just having to say goodbye to Etsy. It's been fun and I will miss it. Thanks to everyone who made it possible for me to have my own shop, like I had always wanted to do since I was a kid.
First off, what does "Aurelas" mean? In Tolkien's high Elvish language, Quenya, it means "sunlit leaf." I chose it first as my name on LOTRO and then for my shop name because there is something about sun shining through leaves that makes me instantly happy. It is an unexpected, unpredictable joy. To me, the finds make at thrift shops, yard sales, etc are like those sudden glimpses of sunlit leaves; they are always exciting and there is always that element of serendipity. This is the moment I want to share with you :)
My parents brought me up on yard sales. I also enjoy thrift shopping, going to flea markets, searching through library sales, and generally hunting for great vintage items and craft supplies. I love the thrill of digging through a million ho-hum items and finding that one item that really stands up and shouts "Look at me!" I keep most of my finds for myself and my family, but even in our new house we do not have room for them all, so I will share some of them with you in my shop. I am something of a hoarder so having this shop will help me to declutter, especially where my craft supplies are concerned!
My shop and workshop in real life is my house, which itself could be called vintage I suppose. It was built in 1920 and the interior is very much in the shabby chic or cottage tradition. Our home does contain two indoor cats, Isabella and her daughter Moonbeam, as well as an outdoor cat, Merlin, so if you are allergic to cats please keep that in mind! We do not smoke or allow any smoking of any kind in our home.

Payment
I accept Paypal and Direct Checkout through Etsy as well as Etsy Git Cards. If your purchase is not paid for after 3 days, I will contact you with a reminder. If I receive no response I will relist the item. If you buy something by mistake, please let me know within 12 hours. As a general rule, I WILL NOT CANCEL SALES AFTER 12 HOURS HAS PASSED. I may have already shipped your item! If there are special circumstances you feel may affect your case, please let me know and I will see what I can do. See also Refund Policy.
Shipping
I use the most cheapest method possible unless requested otherwise. I have found that often the cheaper methods are just as fast. If you need a shipping upgrade, just ask and I will get it all fixed up for you.
I ship all items with delivery confirmation so that you will be able to track your package. As soon as your item ships, I will mark it as shipped and send you a message with your tracking number.
As it is very difficult to figure out how much to charge for shipping each item to each country, I have limited my shop to US rates only. But I will gladly ship internationally; please contact me so that I can find out the proper rates and set up a shipping option for you!
If you have a question about shipping methods that is not answered in the listing, please do not hesitate to ask!
Refunds and Exchanges
Refunds and ExchangesAll sales are final. If an item arrives damaged and the damage is due to poor packaging on my part, I will refund you the price of the item and shipping costs. This is, however, highly unlikely as I am a VERY careful packer.

I will ship all packages with delivery confirmation so you will be able to track your package and I will be able to make sure you receive it. If you do not receive your package, please contact me before giving me negative feedback! I will try to find out what has happened and will refund you if the package gets lost in the mail. If the package shows up as "delivered" and you have not received it, it is out of my hands. Your local post office will be the ones to contact. If it does get there but your neighbor steals it, I think that's the post office or the police's job. Summary: unless you live near me, I can't hand the package to you in person, but I will do everything in my power to make sure it gets to you. If it doesn't, it's on me.

Purchasing mistakes on the part of the buyer are not my fault and I cannot be accountable for them. However, I will try to be understanding--my toddler almost purchased a $250 vintage dress a few months ago! These things can happen.
