About

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

I was searching for a local supplier of mosaic tiles. My search ended with a local art supply house that specialized in all forms of glass related art supplies. At that time the shop was offering a beginners lampwork class called 'Burning for Beads'. I looked up the art of lampworking and signed up immediately.

Lampworking is a type of glasswork where a torch is used to melt rods of colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is wound onto a mandrel, shaped with tools and/or hand movements then decorated with more glass. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking. The art of lampworking along with the use of glass beads has quite an amazing history and dates back many centuries.

My love affair with glass began as a child on a trip to Nantasket beach on the coast of Massachusetts. While there I found lots of beautiful beach glass in shades of cobalt, green and amber. I was hooked!! I then went on to collect all things glass including Morgantown, Seneca and Murano, just to name a few. When I discovered lampworking it was a natural fit.

Glasswork is a passion and something I never of tire of doing. My philosophy on my creative process is to make what I love. I keep a diverse selection of beads in the shop as my whims are constant, so there is always something for all tastes.

I've been behind the torch since 2004 and work solo from my home studio. Each bead is created by me alone from boundless inspiration. Thank you for visiting and supporting indie handmade glass art. S
