The bronze pieces are an exciting new venture for me. They are a result of a collaboration with the Bronze Fine Art Foundry in Dublin, Ireland. They are castings from my original avocado stone carvings.

All postal packaging is made with reused and recycled paper materials. I never use plastic in the making or shipping of my pieces.

I feel so deeply connected to the spirit of this lovely piece. Sheela na gig is such a beautiful and erotic form of The Great Mother. I will treasure this piece always and if I am ever blessed with a daughter, I will pass it on to her.

About

How I started carving avocado stones

Welcome to my shop! I started carving avocado stones in 2014. One day, while preparing an avocado sandwich, I felt reluctant to throw the avocado stone into the bin. I thought that it was too nice an object to throw away. I decided to hold onto the stone so I could take my time thinking about what to do with it. The avocado stone accompanied me as I went about my day, for a few days, inside my coat pocket. When I accidentally scraped the surface of the stone with my nail, a beautiful deep orange pigment surfaced. It occurred to me then to try carving it. I sourced some lino-cutting tools and carved a strange little face into the stone. It was so fun! The carved stone began to dry and after a week it was as hard as wood. I attached some string and it became my first avocado stone pendant.
