Nature Inspired Pottery
I've been doing pottery in the DC area since 2019, after first starting pottery in college. I loved to play in the mud as a child growing up overseas, and pottery reminded me of that carefree time when there was nothing but the sun, dirt under my feet, and wind on my face.
I was a Studio Arts major in college, often finding inspiration in nature like the stars, galaxies, planets, trees, and flowers. Every Saturday you can find me in the pottery studio in Georgetown, throwing clay on the potter's wheel, glazing items, and dreaming about my next project.
I create high quality functional ware including cups, plates, bowls,
and vases, using high-fire clay. My work is distinguished by a
preference for fine walls, even weight (not heavy on the bottom),
and detailed surface decoration. I love creating beautiful items
that people want to pick up, hold, and never let go of.
I am a full time Space professional and part time potter. I find that my in pottery and involvement in this artwork give me a haven away from the daily stress of life and an avenue to
express my own emotions. In my career, I enjoy bringing
awareness of how the arts support STEM. Most recently, my
Apollo Parachute bowl was selected for an art display at
SGx2024, a conference for young professionals in the space
industry. In my moments between work and art, I like to play with
my two cats, read romance books my best friend recommends,
and sneak kisses with my boyfriend.
