About

Clockwork Art: Artist & curator. Watercolour & oil. Steampunk & circuitry. And kittens.

I'm Braden Duncan a.k.a. Clockwork Art, an artist & curator based in Seattle, WA. I work primarily in watercolour.

INSPIRATION:
I am fascinated by the effects of transformative technologies on contemporary society, and I aim to take over the world with the strange and the adorable. I draw my inspiration from symbolism & mythology, the convergence of biological, mechanical & electronic elements, and my miniature feline muse. I can officially say that I've turned 'crazy cat lady' into a viable profession, and I appreciate your support! I make art that I love, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to share my creations.

I love painting animals. I grew up with a menagerie, and I have always been fascinated by the colours & textures of feathers & fur and the fun little quirks that make each creature unique. My favourite muse is my little black Diesel kitten. Being adorable is her job, and she takes it very seriously. Painting my own kitty inspired me to start painting pets for friends and family as well; through Clockwork Art I now have the pleasure of painting animals from all over the world!

PROCESS & MATERIALS:
I paint surrounded by my kittens in my Seattle studio. All of my materials are archival and acid-free. I have my work professionally scanned, colour-proofed & reproduced locally so that my fine art prints always resemble my original pieces as closely as possible. After extensive experimentation & comparison, I've settled on two different trusted online retailers to reproduce my note card & magnets.

For more info about me, my work, and Seattle art events, feel free to send me a Convo or check out my website (www.clockworkart.com) or help support me through Patreon (www.patreon.com/ClockworkArt).

  • Pure Buttons

    Medina, OH

After many failed magnet-making & ordering attempts, I stumbled upon Pure Buttons. Their quality & professionalism is unparalleled, and, as I don't have the ability to create magnets in bulk in my studio, I defer to their expertise.

  • Top Notch Copy & Print

    Seattle, WA

Locally owned & operated print shop in North Seattle. I don't have bulk printing capabilities in my studio, so Top Notch handles the majority of my cardstock printing. All prints are then hand-trimmed & packaged for re-sale by myself in my studio.

  • VistaPrint

    Boston, MA

VistaPrint is a Dutch company regionally headquartered in Boston that specialises in professional marketting materials for small businesses. I don't have the ability to print notecards in bulk; so VistaPrint handles the printing, and I fold & package each card by hand in my studio.

GeekGirlCon is an organization that works to empower women and girls to pursue their passions—whether they love science and technology, comics, literature, gaming, or anything else! Everybody is a geek at heart, in one way or another. Our mission is to ensure all these geeks are supported, welcomed, and encouraged to pursue what they love. What makes us different from other events is one simple concept: conventions and conferences should include content for less-represented identities; this includes a focus on the contributions of women. Sure, our emphasis is on female geeks. But our real goal is to promote a culture that brings EVERYONE together to share their geeky quirks; celebrate the role of women in science, technology, media, and gaming; and build the next generation of strong, powerful geeks.

All of my items are handmade and (with the exception of fine art prints & note cards) one-of-a-kind. If your item is delayed, lost, or damaged in shipping, I cannot always replace it with a new one, but I will do my best to work with the Post Office to resolve the problem.

***INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS***
Commissioned portraits are shipped with insurance via USPS International Priority Mail, and usually take 6-10 business days for delivery. USPS International Priority Express Mail is available for an additional fee upon request, and usually takes 3-5 business days.

Prints, note cards & accessories are shipped via USPS International 1st Class Mail, which can take 10+ business days. Expedited shipping is available for an additional fee upon request.

I cannot be held responsible for any international customs fees, taxes, duties, or tariffs that you may incur past the point of sale. These fees are not included in the shipping price (I have no way of calculating them) and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. I likewise cannot be held responsible for shipping delays due to international customs; I have no control over packages once they leave the United States.

The Post Office is the most reliable (and affordable) international delivery service I have found. If you have any questions concerning delivery of your international purchase, please use the tracking # on your Etsy receipt and contact your local Post Office.

CUSTOM PORTRAITS: There are no returns or refunds for commissioned portraits. Each portrait is made-to-order, and I do not make any changes or adjustments to your portrait once you have approved the final version and it has been shipped.

FINE ART PRINTS, NOTE CARDS & MAGNETS: There are no returns or refunds unless the item differs significantly from the description.

I describe each item to the best of my ability, but I might have overlooked a minor detail or two. If you experience any problems with your purchase, please contact me. I will do everything I can within reasonable possibility to make it right.
