Kristi was awesome about hand-delivering and refunding the shipping costs for the earrings, since we are both local. Beautiful earrings, and my mom loves them!

About

“The glass ceiling gets more pliable when you turn up the heat.” Pauline R. Kezer (Someone else said it, but I've lived that way.)

Hi! My name is Kristi Hall and I own Big Grass Farm Designs. I make fused glass jewelry, art and decor. First things first, I bet you are wondering about my business name. When my husband and I bought our farm, our son was about two years old. We drove out into this field that had grass up over the hood of the truck because they hadn't mowed it for hay. All my son could say was "Look at the Big Grass, Look at the Big Grass!". Needless to say, it kind of stuck and I carried it over to my business.

Now, back to my art. I started making jewelry years ago. I teach computer science at the local community college and had the opportunity several years ago to take a class in fused glass. I fell in love and I was hooked! Opening that kiln after a firing is just like Christmas morning for me. Working with fused glass gives me the artistic release I need from all of the technology that I deal with on a daily basis. BTW, I now teach that fused glass class as well.

I guess you could say I have a thing for fire and heat. I love what it does to glass, metal and wire. I can't get enough of it. It is something new and different every time. I love opening the kiln the next day after a firing. It is always like Christmas morning.

I have developed a term to describe my style..."rustic elegance". My idea of dressing up is a pair of dark blue blue jeans and a pair of dress cowboy boots (my alter ego is a cowgirl, lol). However, I like to wear nice jewelry to dress it up a bit. Most of my pieces will look equally good with a nice blouse and blue jeans or with a dress. If you've got that shabby chic thing going on, then this is the spot for you!

If you would like to know more about what I do, please join me on my Web site at www.bgfdesigns.com.

I hope you enjoy my jewelry and art as much as I enjoy creating it.

My jewelry is handcrafted not only to be beautiful, but also to be durable and lasting. I want each piece to be a one-of-a-kind treasure that can be passed on to the next generation. I take great care to ensure that each piece is solid and durable.

Jewelry should not be worn while sleeping, swimming, showering, etc. Many of my pieces include a patina and should not be submerged in water. They can be cleaned with a jeweler's cloth.

Fused and lampwork glass is durable. However, any glass, when hit against or dropped onto a hard surface may crack or break.

In order to keep fused glass dishware nice and to retain the quality, I recommend hand washing. Placing the dishware into a dishwasher for cleaning can cause the surface to be marred by abrasive detergents. Also, please keep in mind that any glass, no matter how durable, may crack or break when hit against or dropped onto a hard surface.

Please send me a convo for any questions you may have.
