About Me and Butterfly Garden Creations
In fall of 2009, I had a creative epiphany one day while walking down the street. The vividly colored fall leaves littering the pavement caught my attention, and I suddenly wanted to preserve their beauty, knowing that in a few short weeks they would be gone. Examining one small, perfect orangy-red maple leaf, I had a clear, instantaneous vision of that gorgeous specimen adorning a bookmark and laminated to protect it through many uses. Over the next few months, I would acquire materials and begin a development process that led to the creation of my laminated pressed flower and leaf bookmarks, and ultimately to the opening of my Etsy shop, where I could share them with the world.
Later in 2010, I began dabbling in card crafting, and added various card designs to my shop. I was introduced to the exploding box card concept by my best friend, also a card crafter, and produced my first graduation exploding box card in 2012. Over the past few years, I have streamlined my process and refined my design, and they have become my best-selling item. I especially enjoy creating these custom box cards for each individual client, knowing that they will be completely unique and special to that person. There is nothing quite like the rush of getting feedback from a buyer that something I made for them to gift to a special person is absolutely perfect for them!
I craft because at my core, I have a need to create. All of my items are 100% conceived, designed, and created by me and me alone, in my home crafting room. My husband thinks it is his game room, but ever since he made a pool table cover for me to craft on, he doesn't play much pool anymore. ;)
In addition to selling my products on Etsy, I also sell in a local boutique in downtown Salem, Oregon, and have been a co-captain of the Salem Etsy Team since 2013. Standard orders for ready-made items will be shipped within 48 hours of receipt of payment via PayPal or Direct Checkout. In most cases, I will ship the next day. Please keep in mind that if you pay with an e-check via PayPal, I will have to wait until the funds have cleared before shipping. Custom and/or personalized items take a bit longer. Please see Custom Orders info below under Additional Information section.
For domestic USPS First Class Parcel mail, it takes 4--6 days within the USA, but please allow for additional time in case of postal delays.
For USPS First Class International, usually takes 2-4 weeks, but can take longer, so please allow for 6 weeks (sometimes more) for any potential customs or postal delays. Please see below regarding international shipments.
For custom exploding box cards, domestic: USPS First Class Parcel with Delivery Confirmation takes 5-7 days, please allow for up to 2 weeks depending on postal delays. International: Usually takes 2-4 weeks but can take up to 6 or more due to postal or customs delays. Please see below regarding international shipments.

Bookmarks are packaged for shipping in a rigid cardboard mailer or bubble mailer, depending on weight, with additional plastic filler to make the package eligible for first class parcel mail. If you object to the use of plastic filler for environmental (or any other) reasons, just let me know and I will use a recyclable material instead (however, dependent upon package weight, your package may still be mailed in a bubble mailer.)
Cards are packaged in a rigid cardboard mailer, or bubble mailer, depending on weight. Cards are individually packaged in eco-friendly cellophane sleeves for protection during shipping.
Exploding box cards are packaged in a 6x6x6 cube box and will be shipped USPS First Class Parcel mail.
CUSTOMS FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS
Please be aware that your own country's customs service may impose a range of customs import fees, taxes, tariffs, duties at the time of delivery, for which you are responsible. As I am shipping from the USA, I have no way of knowing when or if they will be imposed or how much they might be. I abide by all laws on the U.S. side, which include filling out a customs form for merchandise and providing accurate cost information. For information on any customs charges on your end, you should contact your local customs agency so that you will know what to expect. Please also be aware that your country's customs agency may hold packages and cause delay of delivery.
I am open to custom orders! I am happy to create something to your specifications and/or bulk orders. For custom or bulk orders, please send me a convo or email me at bgardencreations [at] gmail.com for a time and cost estimate.
I require full payment up front for all custom orders. I will begin work on custom orders after payment is received. Photo proofs will be provided to you prior to finalizing the order for shipping, so please make sure that you are available to respond and approve the proofs. This is very important! It is how I can make sure that there have been no spelling or other errors in your item before it is completed. I would hate for you to receive an item for a special occasion that contains an error! Please be aware that because of this, I cannot complete and ship your custom item unless you have approved the photo proofs. If you make a custom order and do not respond to my communications regarding approval of the photo proofs within the shipping time frame, your order will be cancelled and refunded. Please realize that in the event that this occurs, I have already put time and materials into creating your custom item, which cannot be resold to another buyer, and have therefore lost money, and I reserve the right to refuse future custom order requests.

I understand how upsetting it is to place an order and not receive it when you expect to. If you order from me and do not receive your package, please know that I will do everything that I can to assist in getting your order to you. This will require mutual cooperation between both you and myself, as there are steps that will need to be taken on both sides in order to resolve the issue. I ask that you have patience while working through the process and taking all necessary steps.
*** Incorrect Address***
Please make sure that your shipping address is correct in your Etsy and/or PayPal account. I ship to the address on file, and if your Etsy address differs from your PayPal address (if you are paying via PayPal), I will ship to the PayPal address. If you need to make a correction to your address after purchase, you will need to cancel your order, make the correction, and then reorder.
If you ordered a pre-made item and your package is returned to me due to an error in your address, you can request a refund of the purchase price of your item (shipping charges will not be refunded), or I can invoice you additional shipping charges to reship the package.
If you ordered a custom item and your package is returned to me due to an error in your address, I can invoice you the additional shipping charges to reship the package. Please note that my refund policy states that custom items are not eligible for a refund for any reason other than item defect. I will not be able to reship your returned custom item until you have paid for the additional shipping charges.
If you provided an incorrect address and did not receive your package, and it was not returned to me, I cannot be held responsible for the non-delivery. For this reason, it is essential that you make sure that your address is correct when you order.
*** When Tracking Says Delivered, but You Did Not Receive It (USA buyers only) ***
Please know that I check the tracking on each and every package that I send out to make sure that it gets scanned as delivered. As the buyer, you can track your package as well, from the link on your purchase receipt. If tracking shows that your order was delivered to the correct address and you did not receive it, please contact me as soon as possible. I will need your cooperation with research on your end and filing the necessary reports in order to investigate the non-delivery before I can replace the item or issue a refund. The steps I will request that you take are outlined below:
1. First, please be patient. Packages are sometimes scanned as delivered before they are actually delivered. Please wait to see if the package is delivered the next business day.
2. Check with all other family or household members to see if they received the package and placed it somewhere
3. Check with neighbors to see if it was mis-delivered to their address
4. If you live in an apartment or other multi-unit housing, check with rental or central office and with neighboring units
5. Contact your postal carrier and ask if they remember delivering the package
6. Call the local post office to ask if the package is there
If the package is still not located, these are the steps that you should take next:
1. Report mail loss/theft to the Postal Inspection Service:
a. Call 1-877-876-2455 (Select Option #3)
b. Complete a "Mail Theft- Mail Not Received" Complaint Form at https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/radDocs/Mail_Theft_Complaints.pdf
You will need some information from me in order to make this report, such as the date mailed, tracking number, etc. Most of this should be available on your Etsy invoice, and if there is additional information that you need, I will provide this via Etsy convo. Please complete the form within 48 hours of receiving the information from me.
2. If you suspect theft of the package, it is recommended that you report the theft to your local police department.
3. Provide a copy of the completed "Mail Theft-Mail Not Received" form, the receipt showing submission to the USPS, and the police report (if filed) to me. These can be emailed to me at bgardencreations [!at] gmail.com .
4. Provide any other information required for me to file an insurance claim for the non-delivery
If your package was insured, I will give you a timeline for the insurance reimbursement and replacement or refund once I have filed the claim.
I realize that it is very upsetting when you have made a purchase and do not receive the item(s) that you paid for. My goal is to resolve the situation fairly for all parties involved, and in order to do that, must go through all of the above channels to ensure the best possible outcome for all. Your patience and understanding are appreciated, as well as your willingness to communicate and respond to my communications promptly. Rest assured that I will do everything I can to resolve the issue, and your cooperation in the process will expedite the process.
Refunds and Exchanges
For custom/personalized items: unfortunately I cannot accept returns for custom or personalized items for reasons other than item defect. I offer photo proofs before finalizing your custom/personalized product, so that there is time make any revisions if necessary. Once your custom/personalized item is approved by you and completed, the sale is final.
If your custom item is defective, please contact me within 14 days of receiving the item and provide photos and a detailed explanation of the problem. I will refund the purchase price or replace the item upon receipt of the original item in the same condition in which you received it. You will be responsible for return postage, however I will pay postage for your replacement item.
Additional policies and FAQs
Do you press the flowers yourself?
At this time, no. That is on my list of things I would like to do, and will try at some point. However, I have a day job and a family to take care of, and the ideas in my head did not want to wait for me to learn all about pressing flowers before I started making my bookmarks. I do, however, press the fall leaves I use in my bookmarks.
Where do the pressed flowers come from, then?
I purchase the pressed flowers from quality suppliers.
What size are the bookmarks?
Each bookmark measures 2.25 by 6.25 inches (apx. 6.5 by 15.5 cm). The ribbons are approximately 5-6 inches in length.
