BHiveDesign's Shop Announcement

***** THINK SPRING AND WEDDINGS! **** I am busy as a bee in "the hive" working on my latest collection. Check back soon for new listings. Also consider custom bridesmaid clutches for your wedding!

Welcome to B.Hive Design! All items are handmade by me in my home studio in beautiful coastal Falmouth, Maine.

B.Hive Design has been an evolving business since I opened in 2009 on ETSY. My original concept was a business of one-of-a-kind handbags and totes, made from high-end home interior fabric remnants and discontinued fabric samples. I continue to make these bags and also added wedding party clutches. Last year, I introduced a Maine Nautical line, continuing to use nautical home interior fabrics, which I have acquired from many sources. If a bag is NOT one-of-a-kind, it will be noted in the individual description.

There are other clutch makers on etsy, but not all of these are made the same. At B.Hive Design, I have developed methods to make my clutches more substantial with additional interfacing and canvas liners.

My custom wedding party clutches continues to grow and I have made for several weddings, clutches out of a beloved grandmother's or mother's wedding dress. Check out these creations at my facebook fan page!

My shop continues to offer custom items. I have many quality fabrics in stock by such designers as Schumacher, Quadrille, Alan Campbell, China Seas, Robert Allen, Osborne & Little, Lee Jofa and Schlamandre. My inspiration for anything I sew is simple - it is the piece of fabric I am about to work with. The shape, size and ultimate utility of the item is inspired by the textile.

B.HIVE DESIGN was on the red carpet at the SAG awards, 2015 on the arm of the actress Joanna Going of House of Cards. Ms. Going's bag was made from an Osborne & Little silk blend fabric. Check out the photos on my Facebook fan page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/BHive-Design/209517592391807.

I know there are many bag makers on ETSY - but all of MY bags are sturdy and reinforced with interfacing and a canvas liner. Additionally, I like to take into account the proper fabric on the bottom of a tote bag, to protect from dirt - this is what I look for in a bag. Also, my clutches have extra interfacing and I try to use thicker fabrics so that the clutch is not floppy. I have developed several methods to use thicker fabrics.

Sometimes a bag that I make, comes out less then perfect, so I have added a new section to my shop, "The Hive Seconds", and these bags are priced accordingly and the imperfection is included in the description.

I have made every possible effort to represent my products accurately. Subsequently, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. If there is an item you would like additional photographs of, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to send additional photos.

LOCAL CUSTOMERS IN PORTLAND, MAINE: If you buy through ETSY and we arrange for pick up, i will refund the shipping.
