Welcome to all things reusable!
I started sewing in 2012 while making diaper cakes and struggling to find themed items that met my customers requests. In 2017 I discovered reusable cloth pads, then after having my 4th baby and developing horrible allergies to commercial disposable pads, I decided to give them a try.
In 2018 I began selling sustainable, ecofriendly, reusable products such as cloth menstrual pads and UnPaper towels in the private group www,facebook.com/groups/butterflyspiritcreations/
It has become my joy and passion to offer my products to my customers and pride myself on every detail of every order! I have had much success and many happy customers in my Facebook group but after many requests on my social media accounts for an alternative purchasing avenue, I decided to bring some goodies to Etsy for purchasing as well.
Why should you consider cloth pads?
1. Environment. A menstruator will on average use 10,000-15,000 disposable pads and 9,600 tampons in their lifetime! One disposable pad takes hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill. Cloth pads can last up to 10 years with proper care, adding nothing to the landfill.
2. Comfort! No smell, no itch, no glue, no plastic! Cloth pads feel like part of your underwear. Disposables are very limited in sizes. With cloth pads, you have the option of totally customizing your length, absorbency, fabric, and gusset width to suit your own body/flow style to get the best fit for you!
3. Health. You are not exposed to synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and pollutants with cloth pads, unlike disposables. Which are not regulated by the FDA.
4. Money. Yes, cloth pads are an investment in the beginning, but once you have a stash to last one cycle, your cloth pads will last for YEARS. No more running to the store again for box after box of disposables.
5. Beauty! Cloth pads come in so many beautiful prints, colors, and designs. You will be surprise at how a pretty fabric will boost your mood, and make you look forward to that time of the month we often refer to as a curse.
Pad patterns come in lengths from 5" to 20", and absorbency ranges from liner to postpartum. Check out my Facebook group page Facebook.com/groups/butterflyspiritcreations/ to see the most current available fabrics in my shop. You can also find me on Instagram & TikTok @butterflyspiritcreations
Care Instructions for new cloth pads:
All pads are machine washable, but I would recommend rinsing in COLD water, spot treat if necessary (my favorite is OxiClean Laundry Stain Remover) and then throw them in the normal wash, yes even with your other clothes. Tumble dry or hang to dry.
NEVER use, fabric softeners, or dryer sheets as these may prevent proper absorbency of your pads.
Choose sustainability. Choose comfort. Support a small business. Your body, Mother Nature, and Butterfly Spirit Creations Reusables thanks you!
