Breaking the Cycle Therapy: Healing the family disease of addiction through expert care and lived experience. Start your new legacy now!
Our Story:
Together At Breaking The Cycle Therapy, we believe that while addiction is a family disease, recovery is a family's greatest opportunity for transformation. Based in Hurst, Texas, our practice isn’t just a clinical space—it is a mission rooted in personal experience and professional expertise.
The Heart Behind the Practice
My name is Dr. Alan Heide, PsyD., LMFT, and the foundation of this practice is deeply personal. My journey didn't start in a classroom; it started in the rooms of Al-Anon and through my own experience growing up within the complex dynamics of the family disease of addiction.
I know firsthand the weight of the "cycles"—the silence, the survival roles, and the exhaustion of trying to manage a loved one’s struggle. This personal history, combined with over 15 years of clinical experience, fueled my desire to create a sanctuary where others could finally find the tools to break those bonds.
What Makes Us Unique
We aren't just treating symptoms; we are addressing the root of generational patterns. Our approach is defined by:
Lived Experience Meets Clinical Excellence: We bridge the gap between "knowing the books" and "knowing the feeling." This creates a space of profound empathy and zero judgment.
A Focus on the Family System: We understand that when one person struggles, the whole family feels the impact. We offer specialized therapy that helps individuals heal, whether their loved one is in recovery or still struggling.
Community Education: We believe knowledge is power. Beyond the therapy room, we are dedicated to educating the Hurst community on how addiction functions as a family disease, stripping away the stigma and replacing it with understanding.
Our Process
At Breaking The Cycle Therapy, our group practice uses a collaborative model. We focus on:
Identification: Recognizing the specific roles and cycles you’ve been trapped in.
Education: Understanding the "why" behind the behaviors of addiction.
Action: Developing the boundaries and self-care strategies necessary to grow a healthier, happier life.
"Recovery is not just about stopping the cycle; it's about starting a new legacy."
We are here to help you navigate the path from surviving to thriving. Whether you are seeking individual support or want to join a community of healing, we invite you to take that first step with us.
Let’s break the cycle, together.
