About

It started with a bunny and a pea...

2010 was a special year for me as it heralded the long awaited arrival of my daughter to the joy of my little family, and also was the beginning of Babamoon.

I had been Knitting and Crocheting for a number of years at that stage, excited by the idea of hand creating the things my children would wear and play with as they grew up.

I have always been artistic, mostly my talents have been honed in the fine arts during childhood and my college days but I enjoyed crafting and textile arts also.
In those days I imagined that I would one day become a professional artist and tried for many years to establish my art by hand creating animal portraits and landscapes whilst doing a number of day jobs for a living, but it wasn't something that worked out as planned. Being new to the world of self employment after being an employee was not something i was prepared for and didn't understand well enough to market and grow what I had back then.

After meeting my husband and moving in together, I took up an interest in amateur photography which propelled forward after having my son (taking a million pictures of him growing up as moms do!)
Once I had learned and mastered some new skills on my DSLR and Photoshop I began to integrate my fine art skills to my images and stumbled across Etsy which gave me the opportunity to learn what it meant to be my own boss and I finally learned slowly about where I had gone wrong before.

I created my first Etsy shop known as moonangelnay.etsy.com for my photography, specialising Fine Art Photographic images. I was very much in love with Etsy and loved that it had given me the freedom to explore my artistic crafts, easily learn how to run a business and sell my creations, for which the enthusiasm spilled over into my daily life. It was during this period that I had started to pick up my knit and crochet needles a lot more as I relaxed into my new life.

I used to love buying knitting books and patterns as my son grew, and had never really considered writing my own despite my abilities improving and advancing, but whilst waiting for my daughter's birth, (and whilst Etsy was just there every day giving me more reason to feel passionate about creating!) the ideas just started to come naturally to me and I then began creating my first blanket, mittens and hat designs ready for when she arrived.

When the big day came of course I fell in love all over again! She's a wonderful little girl and I found myself in awe of her, inspired more than ever to create more things. My son started to then give his own input and kept telling me with his bossy toddler-self to make more animals since he loves them! So of course I made the effort to do so and made the first of my animal hats, the Rainbow Bunny Hat!
I noticed more than any of my other creations, friends and family members really took a liking to this particular style, keeping it simple and making sure the materials were soft and of higher quality than I was used to, and so using the same materials I created my first accessory (my angel wings) and being quite anxious to try making swaddler of some kind I decided upon making a peapod cocoon. It soon occurred to me that passion and patience never waned with this and I contemplated actually doing it for a living.

I then opened up my second shop Babamoon and included my bunny hat, wings and peapod creations online amongst a few other designs. I found myself making my first sale within a month! It ended up being a faster growing business than my photography store which I learned very quickly had to take a back seat whilst more of my handmade creations manifested and more sales were made, so for the moment I am not selling my photography art but 5 years down the line Babamoon is now thriving. Being so busy everything is now on a made to order basis.

I couldn't be more pleased with the progress I've made. I owe huge credit to my supportive family for helping put up with my work loads, my overspilling yarn hoard ( I love yarn! it has it's own space at home now lol!), my husband for regularly assisting with shipping and for my children forever inspiring me. My son especially with his crazy but cool suggestions and also for my daughters modelling in the majority of listings throughout my store, fast becoming known for my original 'blue stripe bunny hat design' picture! My husbands constant support and praise gets me through all the difficult and busy times and my kids input makes me consider Babamoon a little family affair. I couldn't be more proud of the achievements that have been brought forth our way with magazine and blog appearances, Etsy Press Kits and more. We have been very humbled by the interest and experiences.

I am hoping to offer much more with Babamoon as a brand and excited about it's future!

CURRENT PROCESSING TIME is valid as of September 14. Delivery is in addition to processing. Urgent orders may wish to select rush processing in the shipping upgrades before payment.


PEAK SEASONS - During peak periods and holiday seasons (Aug-Apr) the processing schedule may be longer due to increased quantities of orders for which I do my best to update my processing schedule reguarly and will advise where I can if orders may take any longer. I always work as swiftly as I can to try and get everyone's orders out asap.

**** Rush orders are completed in my free time outside of my working hours (usually at night) and come at a fee which is now selectable during checkout either alone or with a shipping upgrade (for international customers). Rush orders have their own processing schedule as stated below (this schedule will not unfortunately show during checkout or on your invoice initially but WILL be updated once I've received the order to reflect the new schedule)

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY ESTIMATES (•)


Most of the time if there are any delays, they are usually seasonal, may go through manual handling procedures or checks may occur (ie: customs checks, strikes, hand-sorting, seasonal load increases/backlogs, extreme weather conditions etc). Delayed items do not take too long to resume movement.


- DELAY/LOST ITEMS INFORMATION -

Please check the service updates for your country to determine any noted reasons for disruption by Royal Mail as severe widespread delays usually do have a recognisable reason that the postal services pass on through their incident pages.

*Unfortunately customs delays occur on an individual basis due to checks on some but not all individual packages upon arrival at the international distribution centres.
I cannot advise if a delay is customs related without tracking so I would recommend the shipping upgrade if you wish to monitor your order's movement*

orders to international destinations on the most part arrive in a timely manner usually within 5 business days Europe and 7 business days everywhere else, with a few packages taking perhaps a few days longer if any short delays occur.
If items take longer than 35 days (15 business days for UK customers) from shipment to arrive, this is when my postal provider would consider the post to have "failed" to arrive in a satisfactory amount of time, I am very happy to give options to customers to rectify the matter.
New items can be made free of charge in an appropriate size to resend asap or I can refund the original transaction.
If it is the case that items do not show within the delivery window and refunds are preferred, then the situation must be discussed up to 60 days after the 35 day (15 business days for UK) deadline. If I do not hear from customers in time I will not be able to file a claim for loss.

Please contact me asap so I can help. I am always happy to help where I can as it's as important to me that items arrive safely too.

To help ensure packages arrive safely please ensure that the correct shipping addresses are provided at checkout and for the USA it isn't necessary but both zip code numbers can help with machine sorting which can help with faster transit times so if this can be provided please do!

Refunds and Exchanges
I do offer refunds, or exchanges for items of equal value (lesser value items will receive a partial refund to cover the paid amount, exchanged items that cost more than the original order will be invoiced to recover the remaining costs).
Returns for either MUST be in their original condition upon arrival (please read on for standards required).


- CANCELLATION BEFORE SHIPMENT -
Cancellations within my store terms within the first day of ordering (before your item is completed) will receive a full refund.
Refunds prior to shipment will cover the transaction costs (order+ shipping) and will include any refunds on rush orders that were arranged via Etsy Conversation in advance. Order cancellations are eligible for a full refund PRIOR to order shipment if notice is given within the cancellation window (see below).

Cancellation notices MUST be given within the cancellation window after the order has been placed.
My order queues are completely seasonal dependant meaning the turn around can vary so I try to include estimated processing times in store to give an idea of what to expect and so there is time to plan ahead and make sure that time with contingency is given for your order to be completed and delivered for your deadline.

Late cancellations after the stated windows or especially at the last minute is not acceptable notice to cancel an order.
Cancelling at the last minute or within the days/weeks of an order being due is usually when work begins on its preparations (eg: ordering yarn supplies, scheduling, beginning it's creation etc) and therefore would infringe upon this advanced notice given. After 2 days of an order being placed orders will be subject to the 'after shipment' part of my policies (see below).



- AFTER SHIPMENT -
Returned orders for refunds or exchanges will require notification to me within 14 days of the package arrival date BEFORE sending back to me.

Returns for refunds or exchanges will be valid for items that are returned in the original condition upon arrival, clean, unwashed, undamaged (unless fault existed upon arrival), and UNWORN condition (items can be tried on for size of course).
Please contact me on Etsy to arrange a return.

Please note that return costs are the responsibility of the customer unless there has been damage in transit, items are faulty, incorrect items/colours or incorrect sizes happen to have been sent in error then the return shipping costs would be my responsibility as the seller and in this instance I would reimburse the return shipping costs of returned items upon the items arrival with me.

Please note that these policies are in accordance with the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002, and Sale of Goods Act 1979

Again for returns I ask that buyers please contact me within 14 days of the item arriving to arrange a return before shipping it back.

As per the distance selling regulations and Etsy's terms please "contact me first" to arrange a return officially before shipping an item back, otherwise it is classed as being returned unofficially and ineligible for reimbursement.
I do however have my own store policy for this to try and support customers, and have steps that I take in light of this scenario due to the most common reasoning behind unofficial returns being failed delivery attempts (please view my 'items returned without warning' section below).

- ITEMS RETURNED WITHOUT WARNING -
Orders that are returned without any warning will go through a contact then re-shipment procedure, and I will try to get in touch to establish reasoning behind the returned circumstances to ensure successful delivery with the next attempt.

Returns without warning are usually error related and down to insufficient address details applied during checkout or customers not updating address details upon changing homes for those with long term Etsy accounts.

I copy and paste addresses to print my shipment labels so addresses are applied as they have been given making it 'vital' to ensure your details are correct upon ordering to prevent any lengthy delays.

I reship all returns with the standard service.

Should the 2nd delivery attempt fail or if customers fail to return communication within 14 days of my attempted contact, items will be re-stocked.

Items returned without warning are considered returned unnofficially under the distance selling regulations, so it is important that my attempts at communication with your order are reciprocated asap to prevent any disappointment.

Frequently asked questions

Are your items ready to ship?

No, as stated in my store anouncement and listing descriptions all items are made to order unless stated otherwise and subject to the processing time stated in in my policies.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes I ship all over the world, the vast majority of my items ship to the USA, Canada, Australia and the EU but everyone is welcome to place an order :)

Do you offer rush delivery?

No I am afraid my postal providers options are limited to what I offer in store so there is not a speedier delivery option available, however I can offer rush processing to make your items sooner if the order is urgent, and if you required it you may select the shipping upgrade to obtain tracking for your package. Both options are available from the shipping upgrade menu during checkout in your shopping cart.

Where is my tracking code?

Tracking does not come with standard shipping which is the default shipping option for all orders so if it wasn't purchased with your order you will not have a tracking code.

If you require tracking you will need to select the shipping upgrade from the shipping upgrades menu in your cart before processing your payment. If you process your order before doing this then please get in touch with me so we can arrange to get tracking for your order separately.

Once you have the shipping upgrade I will submit the tracking code when your item has shipped onto your order which you can track directly on Etsy from your online order invoice found in the purchases menu of your Etsy account.
