Living Life Simply

Shop Bio via etsy
I started crafting when I was quite young as a way to relax and use up some spare time. I would often continue certain crafts during school, camps, etc. So there was always a need to keep me busy, entertained, and crating something new.
In early 2012 I handed my daughter a juice box, but before I handed it over I read the ingredients and the first thing I saw "10% real fruit juice." I thought , "oh my, what am I giving to my children?" Then an idea popped into my head, I decided it was time to make a change in our lives for the better. So I started on a journey to take us ALL NATURAL; which meant our foods, drinks, bodies, hair, etc. I wanted to follow by living simply and devised a plan to do so.
The transition was long, but rather easy, but I still had my EXTREME need to craft. During this time a friend of mine was crafting and selling some jewelry. So I got on etsy and was looking for some adjustable pieces for my kids, since they are so small. I couldn't find any jewelry for kids that was adjustable, affordable, and something they would actually wear. So I decided to make my kids some jewelry myself. I thought the more simple I make it, the less worry I have of them losing it. So I devised the "5 or less" plan I follow. Meaning, all materials should add up to less than 5 objects. For example; a bracelet will incorporate the cord, beads, and clasp = 3 items.
Then I thought, why don't I make and sell too? As I began to craft, my good friend was my muse, and my friends and family were my first clients. Since 2012 was a wake up year for me regarding my health; and after my pregnancy in 2010, I was never released to go back to work, I was excited to actually be able to do something.
So I continued to craft and sold more locally than I did online, took regular breaks when my health was overwhelming, but was always happy to be able to return to something that kept me busy and calm. The more I crafted jewelry, the more I thought I could be crafting other things as well. I was already making our own hair products when I had gotten a request from someone to sell a batch, I thought "hey, that's not a bad idea."
So began the loads of researching, and still abiding by my "5 or less" rule, I created samples of lip balms, body lotions, body scrubs, hair oil spray, hair balm for us and my close friends to try. With loads of approvals, I decided it was time to create my own recipes and start selling. Which is still underway due to the researching I am still doing.
I try to research, create, craft as often as I can revolving around my kids behaviors and schedules. After the move Oct 2012, crafting became so much easier after having room to set me up an office space all while still keeping an eye on the kids. I enjoy what I do and wish to spread this joy through my work, whether it is a piece of jewelry, a lip balm, or something else I imagine to create. I am my own designer, researcher, crafter, owner, photographer, etc. I wish to some day be the "jack-of-all-trades" in this crafting world :-)

Welcome to my Etsy Shop, Back 2 The Basics ^-^ Here's a little about me; I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 beautiful daughters, we live in a multicultural home, we are always on the go, and love getting crafty together. I began crafting with different materials and came up with the ingenious plan to share my findings with everyone. As a way to relieve my sanity, my need to craft, as well as my husband's pockets, I started creating jewerly and cake pops and sold them locally. My goal is to create hand crafted items, at affordable prices, on a 5 or less ingredient basis (in general terms). I am expanding beyond jewelry, Bengali jewelry; including items such as lip balms, lip scrubs, body scrubs, foot soaks, cake pops, limbers (a Hispanic ice treat), vinyl decals, car decals and wraps, paper crafts (such as boxes); kids items including vinyl, flash cards, and whatever else I can get my hands on. So stay tuned ^_^
