I prefer you contact me through Etsy Conversations rather than my email: www.etsy.com/conversations. I check my messages Monday through Friday.
I receive hundreds of messages and try my best to answer them all in a timely manner. But at times I am away from my desk, creating pottery, glazing, cleaning and organizing, checking things off of my never ending to-do list, or simply taking time out for my family. I appreciate your patience...

Coffee Tastes Better in a Handmade Mug

I try to be a practical person (even though I am not, really). So I love the idea of making useful things that people can use every day. I've always had an abundance of ideas & I thrive when I am busy and creative. My best ideas come to me when I am sleeping so I keep a notebook on my bedside table.

My childhood was filled with art, crafts & creative thinking. My twin sister & I would play with clay while my mother was using her old potters wheel on the back porch. Dad was always making some sort of sculpture out of things most people would consider “trash”, in between fixing cars so he could pay the bills.

After my children were born I did not want to return to a job outside of the home so I helped make ends meet by making a variety of things (mainly jewelry) & selling it at local shops.
My husband, who is in the construction industry, had built a couple of pottery studios in the area. One day a friend of his offered to give me pottery lessons. I jumped with excitement at the opportunity and started going every week. Discovering how diverse ceramics can be, ideas kept flooding my head & soon I had to do it every day. I started taking clay home, working away on small projects like buttons & beads. The wheel however wasn't as easy as I dreamed it would be. But I am a determined person & kept trying even though at first I found it difficult make anything. I purchased a used pottery wheel & practiced daily. Soon after, my wonderful husband built me my very own studio in the back of our beautiful beach house and my pottery business was born.

I started by selling most of my wares at local art & craft shows and some shops. Then two of my friends, who have successful Etsy shops, suggested that I give it a try. I took their advice & here I am... And I'm loving it!

My business really started taking off so I had to hire my sister to help me with shipping. I also have some great friends who come over when I’m flooded with orders and stay late into the night to help me with glazing and keep me company. I love how my studio has become a place where we talk and laugh as we create.

Nowadays I begin with getting my children off to school then spending an hour or so in the morning on the computer, answering customers questions and managing the shop. With my handmade mug in hand, filled with my husband’s freshly roasted coffee, I venture into the studio & go through my notebook to see what I get to make for the day.

Often I get a wild idea to make something new and I just have to do it.
I love connecting with my customers (from all over the world), hearing their inspiring ideas & making them come to life. I feel very blessed to have a life where I can create beautiful things, full time, and be there to watch my children grow. When things get busy my husband is always willing to help me glaze & fire my pottery.

One of my favorite techniques is called slip trailing. I draw with a squeeze bottle filled with liquid clay. I love coming up with new designs to put on my pottery. It makes each piece special & unique.

One-of-a-kind and handmade is close to my heart where it will always be...

Glaze Characteristics

Please be aware that there are color variations with every computer monitor and the color may look different in person than the color you see on your screen. Contact me for color samples.

The translucent glazes, mainly Spicy Mustard, Emerald Green, Hyacinth and Deep Sea Blue, have a crackle effect. It is a characteristic of the glaze. It crackles most when it goes through its first wash. It will not affect it use or ability to hold liquid. This is do to the expansion and contraction that occurs with temperature changes.
