Gorgeous quilt, beautiful detail, awesome cause! Proceeds benefited Rancho Relaxo, a cause near and dear to me. Thank you!

I discovered Etsy back in 2009 and fell in deep and instant love. As a fan of all things handmade it was such a breath of fresh air, a much needed departure from quick, cheap and easy. It became my go-to for unique gifts and treasures and it wasn't long before I had opened shop and began my own adventure in the warm world of Etsy.
I've experimented with many things in my shop over the years, even changing names when I outgrew the old one . Some items sold great, but I didn't love making them. Others I loved to make, but sold poorly. Others were terrible to ship and still others made me zero profit. So, I would open shop, and I would close shop, riding the waves of maintaining a small business while raising and homeschooling three girls and managing a home and small farm. Etsy fit my life so well because it afforded me the space and freedom to do what I needed to do, when I needed to do it.
But the call of Etsy has lured me back again. After spending the past year thinking hard about what direction to take, I think I've finally found it. Something I could stick with because it involves so many of my loves. Here they are in no particular order...
First, my crazy love of crochet.
Second, my fundamental belief in organic and all things clean and pure.
Third, it's my way of making a difference (and I know the Earth thanks me for my efforts).
And fourth, one of my incredibly awesome girls is joining me on this creative adventure!
As a homeschooling family we've always spent much of our time together and all prejudice aside they're the coolest kids I know. They're all insanely talented and I started to think about the impact we could make working together, versus just little, old me. So, happily, I introduce Jordan ~ my partner in crime!
You won't find anything here in Backyard Dreams that doesn't meet our green expectations, and for the record, those expectations are pretty stinkin' high. We use only certified organic yarns and fabrics and occasionaly upcycled fabrics will make an appearance. Also, I'm pretty excited to offer my vegan cookbook for the first time, most are recipes I've been using for many years. Jordan's gorgeous signs are all made from reclaimed wood. Yup, eco-friendly all around.
So, we thank you for stopping by and helping us to make a difference. Wishing you a truly spectacular day!
Peace & many blessings ~
Melinda & Jordan
