Nice to find some salt-free seasonings as they are hard to find in the stores. I also like the fact that she grows the herbs herself. Looking forward to using this. Fast shipping and wonderful customer service. Will be back to try some more of her wonderful seasonings.

About

It all Started in the Backyard

My friends and I took a class from local herb specialist Jan Butler of Aurora, IL, back in 1990. After that I started my own herb garden in 1991. It was 5 feet by 7 feet just outside the back door and was filled with vegetables and herbs. Each year the garden grew until that first garden was 17 feet by 22 feet and one of three on the property. I produced more surplus than I could use and after giving away all we could and canning our special "DuPage County Salsa" for holiday gift giving for several years, I started a business to sell the extra herbs. I named it The Backyard Patch in honor of the place my herbs came from.

Traveling to local farmers markets I slowly began to blend dried herbs into mixes because although my customers liked herbs, they did not know how to use them without a bit of guidance. Starting with a Dill Dip mix and an Italian Salad Dressing, I now make more than 40 herb mixes as well as seasonings, herbal teas and bath items.

That little garden in the backyard was outgrown and I moved to a production garden of 3/4 of an acre where I grow most of what I use to create my blends. I still grow most myself, blend all the herbs by hand and use only my own recipes to create my specialties.

Back in the 1990s I planted my first herb garden. Now I manage 3/4 of an acre and craft those herbs into custom herb combinations for cooking and tea hand-crafted from my own recipes.
