Ho sempre amato creare cose, ma la mia passione per la fibra non è iniziata fino al 2013.
Per Natale ho ricevuto un bellissimo mandrino a goccia fatto a mano, un po' di fibra e il libro "Rispetta il fuso". Non passò molto tempo prima che avessi il filato. Non filato "bello", intendiamoci, ma sicuramente filato. La parte sorprendente era quanto mi piacesse fare quel pezzo di filato ondulato e ondulato. Mi ha portato in un luogo di meditazione tranquilla, mentre allo stesso tempo ero in grado di produrre qualcosa di tangibile.
Nel corso dell'anno successivo ho continuato a lavorare sulla mia tecnica con il mandrino, fino a quando non sono riuscito a realizzare un filato a plied bello, uniforme, equilibrato. Poi, con l'aiuto di mio marito sempre solidale, sono stata in grado di acquistare la mia ruota che gira nel 2014.
Da allora sono stato, beh... ossessionato dalla fibra. La moltitudine di colori e odori di pecora sono inebrianti. Adoro come puoi prendere la stessa fibra e manipolare la consistenza, il peso e la mano attraverso tecniche di filatura per creare filati finiti completamente diversi. Cerco continuamente di imparare di più sul mio mestiere attraverso libri, video, workshop e MOLTO e MOLTO spinning. Nel 2015 ho deciso che volevo condividere il mio amore per la fibra con gli altri e così è nata l'idea di "Bad Wolf Yarn".
Eco-Friendly non è solo un motto da queste parti, è uno stile di vita che si estende alle mie creazioni. Sostengo i piccoli pastori locali e di razza storica nei pile che compro e filano in filato. I miei filati vengono tinti da me in piccoli lotti utilizzando solo coloranti professionali atossici. Tutti i miei materiali di perline sono acquistati da negozi di perline di proprietà locale e i materiali di imballaggio sono realizzati con rifiuti post-consumo, completamente riciclabili e realizzati negli Stati Uniti.
Ho davvero amato la mia ruota che gira, era bellissima, estremamente ben fatta e non ha rotto la banca. Quando ho scoperto di più sul produttore Kromski and Sons ho scoperto che avevamo gli stessi valori. Assumono falegnami e artigiani locali per creare le loro ruote e telai. I Kromski escono anche e raccolgono singoli alberi dalla foresta da utilizzare nei loro prodotti e piantano nuovi alberelli per mantenere equilibrato l'ecosistema. È stata una grande partita, quindi ho iniziato a trasportare i prodotti Kromski nel 2016!

I have always loved creating things, but my passion for fiber didn’t start until 2013.
For Christmas I received a beautiful handmade drop spindle, some fiber and the book “Respect the Spindle”. It wasn’t long before I had yarn. Not “beautiful” yarn, mind you, but definitely yarn. The amazing part was how much I loved making that squiggly, undulating piece of yarn. It brought me to a place of quiet meditation, while at the same time being able to produce something tangible.
Over the next year I continued working on my technique with the spindle, until I could make a nice, even, balanced plied yarn. Then with the help of my ever supportive husband I was able to purchase my spinning wheel in 2014.
Since then I have been, well…obsessed with fiber. The multitude of colors and sheepy smells are intoxicating. I love how you can take the same fiber and manipulate the texture, weight, and hand through spinning techniques to make a completely different finished yarns. I am continually trying to learn more about my craft through books, videos, workshops and LOTS and LOTS of spinning. In 2015 I decided I wanted to share my love of fiber with others and so the idea of “Bad Wolf Yarn” was born.
Eco-Friendly is not just a motto around here it's a lifestyle that extends to my creations. I support small local and heritage breed shepherds in the fleeces I buy and spin into yarn. My yarns are dyed by me in small batches using only non-toxic professional dyes. All of my beading materials are purchased from locally owned bead shops and packaging materials are made from post consumer waste, fully recyclable and made in the U.S.A.
I really loved my spinning wheel, it was beautiful, extremely well made and didn't break the bank. As I found out more about the manufacturer Kromski and Sons I found that we had the same values. They hire local wood workers and craftsmen to create their wheels and looms. The Kromski's also go out and pick individual trees from the forest to be used in their products and plant new saplings to keep the eco-system balanced. It was a great match so I started carrying Kromski products in 2016!
