Out of love for fabrics!
Born in the Caribbean on the beautiful island of Curacao, I moved to the Netherlands for college in 1988. After receiving my bachelor's degree in hotel management, I completed Law school and worked in this field for more then 10 years. I wrapped up this part of my life when my husband, my two sons and I left for India in January 2007.
We lived in Mumbai, India for 3 years and it was during these amazing years that I started making bags, travel bags (hence: Travelher). Being creative was not new to me. Even though my formers job(s) did not require any creativity (unless you count creativity with words, of course), I was always creating things with my hands as a hobby. Another hobby t I started making bags, travelbags (hence: Travelher). Being creative was not new to me. Even though my formers job(s) did not require any creativity (unless you count creativity with words, of course), I was always creating things with my hands as a hobby. Another hobby is buying fabrics, only real and cool stuff, all over the world. Taught by my mother and encouraged later in life by my husband's aunt, who was very dear to me, I have always enjoyed crochet, needlepoint, sewing and embroidery. If you mix these abilities with my fabric fetish, India is a deadly place.
It is in India that I decided to leave "the Law" and (seriously!) get in to creating all sorts of bags and pouches. Over the years I had already accumulated many pieces of fabric, but the amazing silks of India really opened my eyes to the unending possibilities. Mumbai - to me - is not only a place I lived for a couple of years. Mumbai is a feeling, a color and a smell (sometimes more then one smell at the same time). You will feel the Indian influence in my creations.
Back in Holland
Currently I am back in Rotterdam, Holland and over the years I have accumulated such a scary stock of fabrics that I have no choice but to keep making bags, as long as you will want to buy them.
But I am doing more! I recently started selling great fabrics, bits and pieces. You will find my shop on Etsy:
Owner, Designer, Maker, Curator
I was born in the Caribbean on the beautiful island of Curacao, but have been living elsewhere for more than 20 years. I am trained in Hotel management and have a masters degree in law, but have been making luxurious bags for the last few years.
Everything you see in my shop is designed and made by me. For this I use the very best quality of fabrics I find all over the world. I do not mass produce my bags. Of every item I just make a few, you can be sure to possess a very unique item! What I like to do the most is combine fabrics of different origins. They often make great matches en thus tell a great story!
