BakerWoodWorks' Shop Announcement

While in college studying zoology and English, I had a work/study job with a master furniture builder where I gleaned an appreciation for joinery and finishing. Newly married, my wife and I went to Annecy, France to make wooden toys. A generous ebeniste (furniture restorer) let me use a corner of his shop and, with my wife’s design suggestions, proceeded to turn out playful and play worthy toys. Unfortunately, the French of 4 decades ago were saving their money for washing machines so we returned to the States and I turned my energies to raising and providing for a family. During that period, I kept my skills honed by building all the cabinetry and much of the furniture in our home. Now that I have retired from my day job and have grandchildren, I am in a position to build objects that I like (incorporating my wife’s artistic suggestions) for other people. While living in Colorado, I built using pine and fir from a local mill. Now that we’re living in northern Illinois, the materials of choice are local hardwoods. Let me build something for you!

Most of the objects below are not on hand and will be built just for you. A 50% down payment will get the project rolling, with the balance due upon shipping. I work closely with my clients and can provide in-process photos. While we can negotiate personally, all payments will go through Etsy which I appreciate for this uncommonly unselfish platform.

Shipping? is a bit knotty. The items below with shipping cost $0.00 are NOT shipped free. It’s just that the shipping will have to be determined, is unknown speculation at this time, depending on destination, final weight, etc. Unless otherwise directed, I will ship FedEx ground which I have found to be the least expensive and very reliable. And, of course, I will ship to Canada.
