Behind the Ballyhoo BigTop...
Ballyhoo Bath opened up for business on May 1st, 2011. The date of May 1st was chosen because it signals the opening of Circus season. Ballyhoo is a term used in circus and carnivals for many decades.
I create all my bath and body products in a special lab area that my husband and I built in our basement. It looks like a kitchen with some whimsical touches so it's a happy place for me to create. But it also was built to be a clean area to avoid contaminating the products. The FDA has standards on what kinds of conditions cosmetic products should be made under and I make it my job to study those guidelines and keep my lab compliant. Fortunately, I have have worked in science labs before, so this part comes fairly easily.
For the most part, I am a team of one. Sometimes my husband and teen daughter help me with packaging during the crunch times, but most of the time all of the products are designed, made, and packaged by me.
I love to share my knowledge about cosmetic chemistry and consider myself a teacher as well as a formulator. So if you ever have questions about my products, or cosmetic products in general - please don't hesitate to ask me!

I've always been a scientist at heart. But I also love to create. My degree is in Physics, so unlocking the mysteries of cosmetic science is something I'm very passionate about, especially as it relates to sustainable and eco-friendly products.
My name is Luci and I'm the ringleader & formulator around here. I take the science of cosmetic chemistry very seriously and only include ingredients that I know to be safe and effective. There are many who believe that natural is better - sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. But my primary focus is not just on natural ingredients but on SUSTAINABLE ingredients, products, and packaging. I study the science, and make fun of the marketing hype. Maybe there is a "sucker born every minute" as Mr. P.T. Barnum said, but it doesn't need to be you and me. ٩(◠◡◠)۶
Accepted payment methods
- Accepts Etsy gift cards
- Other Method
Paypal or credit cards can be used during Etsy checkout.
You may also send a check or money order by selecting payment type "other" during checkout. Etsy should then give you my mailing address. Your order will ship after the check has cleared my bank.
Items generally ship within 2 business days from when you pay for your order. I will contact you if there is any delay.
All shipping is via the US Post Office. Orders ship 1st class parcel if under 13 ounces, or priority mail if over 13 ounces. Priority mail generally arrives in under 3 days, 1st class may take a little longer.
I ship internationally to selected countries. Shipping rates for those countries appear with each item listing. These rates are for 1st class parcel service which can take several weeks, although I have seen them arrive in Europe in under 1 week as the best case but these times vary by country and busy season. If you don't see your country listed, please contact me to see if shipping is available to your country.
If you need to upgrade your shipping to get your order faster, please contact me for rates and I will arrange a custom listing so you can pay for the extra shipping services (all USPS - priority mail, express mail, etc.)
Refunds and Exchanges
Please contact me FIRST before leaving a neutral or negative feedback. I work very hard to make customers happy but I can't do that if you don't communicate with me. So no matter how small the issue may seem - let me know if you were not completely satisfied.
I want your Ballyhoo Bath experience to be blissful so you'll come back time after time, after time....
Additional policies and FAQs
I try to leave feedback in the Etsy system but sometimes it gets backed up for months and often I won't have time to leave comments. If you are trying to build your feedback on Etsy, please send me a convo so I will know to leave feedback for you promptly. Otherwise it might take me a while. As far as feedback that my customers leave for me, I do read it about once per month and I always appreciate the sweet things people say. If you have any issues with your order - please contact me first before leaving feedback so I can try to fix things for you - no matter how minor the issue might seem. If it makes you have less than a positive feeling - I would like to know so I can improve things.
Sorry, but I am not taking wholesale or custom orders at this time.
