The colors are more vibrant than in the picture. It also has some sparkly threads--beautiful work!

The scarf is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully dyed. Colors are amazing and perfect for fall. Lucky me! Thank you.

This beautiful quilt is hanging in our office at North Brisbane Psychologists, Brisbane Australia. Four psychologists work from this office and we all love it. So far every client has noticed this quilt and made positive comments. It is beautifully made and one can see the hours of devotion, love and work when looking closely at it. We feel the positive energy of that love and devotion in the room having this lovely quilt on the wall. Thank you Barbara for this stunning work of beauty.

A particularly beautiful moon that I snapped a photo of was the inspiration for this art quilt
This photo, taken in a traditional room design, shows how the right fiber art quilt could look beautiful in so many different room styles, especially mounted on stretcher boards as this one is.

About

I love the process of creating, following the progress of an art quilt to see where it leads.

I’m a fiber artist, I create original fiber art quilts and silk paintings, working in mixed media. I’ve had a life long love affair with art. There are a lot of talented artists in my family tree, including some professionals. It wasn’t surprising that from an early age I  loved art and had an aptitude for it.

By the time I was a teen, I had narrowed my focus to painting. I’d won a few art competitions and decided I was going to become a serious artist, I had aspirations!
I joined The Las Vegas Artist’s Guild, a young teen with aspirations!. I was their youngest member at the time. I loved it, everything was about art, I felt immersed in art, the discussions, the artists themselves. It was exhilarating. Here I sat in a room of “serious artists” completely out of place. I tried to remain unnoticed, a fly on the wall, observing everything quietly, with a big grin spread across my face.
That was the glorious beginning of my artistic “career". .

After a move to Oregon I discovered quilting and with the help of several friends who are amazing quilters I jumped in, with both feet.
I was still an artist at my core and in time I began to miss the freedom of movement that is possible with painting. There is less need for structure. When I became aware of the new exciting art form, fiber art quilting, it was
a natural transition. I’m a mixed media fiber quilt artist.

MY APPROACH AND PROCESS
I’m a mixed media fiber quiltWho en I became aware of the new exciting art form, fiber
art quilting, it was a natural transition.
My Approach and Process
When I’m struck by an image or thought that excites me, a tiny seed of an idea forms, vague and blurred around the edges. I simply follow where that leads me. I work instinctively, with little advanced planning.
As each need for a creative decision arises, I make the choices based on what feels right at the time. This creates many changes in the  direction that the quilt takes. There are many twists and turns along the way. The-- results can be surprising.
I love that element of surprise!
Sometimes everything just comes together and something special happens that exceeds my expectations. As I’m standing back looking at the finished piece, I’m thinking that this is one of my better ones. And I’m smiling like the Cheshire cat, pleased as punch with myself. Honestly, I’m like a 6-year old, running home from school with a drawing in hand to show Mom.
