Painting is a passion for me. The world around us is very colorful and bright if you look in the right direction. After always doodling around with pencils and markers as a kid, I started painting 16 years ago.
A private teacher taught me how to put my everlasting inspirational ideas on canvas. Life has been good ever since.
I always start with a thick layer of gel and paint
After drying I start to ad color, the image appears by itself.
I like to stick different materials in it, like metal, eggshells, etc.
4 years ago I was totally new to ceramics and started my classes in Sara Swinks studio. In this time I have explored a lot of different techniques little over a year ago I got gifted a pottery wheel and have been working on that. First learning how to do it. My dancing pots are a collaboration between wheel throwing and hand building.
I love to create commission works, it can either be an inspiration of an already sold work that I can recreate or it can be a whole new work based on your wishes. It will of course always be in my style.
My paintings are all on canvas or wood panels and the sides are painted so no framing costs, you can hang it the moment you come home with it.
I do enjoy showing how I create my work. It is very rewarding to me that people show interest in my work and enjoy owning my art. Feel free to contact me if you would like to see my studio.
Thanks for your interest, Barbara Paanakker.

when visiting the shop please take note of the painting size. A small painting looks the same as a large one on the internet but is very different in real life!

5 out of 5 starsSame as the previous review, but this one I'm keeping for myself as it will be perfect at my beach house for my garden flowers! Thanks Barbara! - Anne

5 out of 5 starsBeautiful piece of art brilliantly created by Barbara. It's a sculpture in a painting with so much texture. Love it!

5 out of 5 starsLove this little portrait that Barbara geniously created. So much depth, and it is heavy for such a small piece of art. She is so talented!
