Very nice, professionally crafted scarf pin. Fits scarves of all sizes and holds without snagging them. Would happily shop here again.

About

Everyone dies someday; but I get to dye everyday!

I’m lucky enough to live in the beautiful mountains of of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, where it’s easy to find vibrant color combinations, intriguing shapes, and flowing patterns to capture on silk and wool. I like to use items I find in nature to print directly on the fabric, or to make my own natural dyes. After each item is painted with dye, it’s then steamed on my wood-fired cook stove to set the colors. I love seeing all the freshly dyed scarves, roving, and yarn hanging on the clothesline to dry. It’s a little like canning food from my homestead garden-- each piece preserves the essence of a season, a moment. When I see them all lined up, I remember all the good living I had -- while I was dying.

When I'm not dying fiber, I'm working in my garden with my dyed hands, and often, dyed bare feet!

Payment
Payment: Pay Pal only
Deadline: If I do not receive payment within five days after the purchase has been made, I will consider the order canceled and re-post the item.
Cancellation: Orders may be canceled until the item is shipped.

If you foresee any of these policies being problematic, please contact me and we may be able to make other arrangements.
Shipping
Items ship within three business days of receiving payment. I will send a shipping confirmation when all of your items have been sent.

All items include free domestic shipping via USPS First Class Mail. If you would like a shipping upgrade for an added fee (such as insurance, tracking, or overnighting) please contact me either before or immediately after making your purchase.

International orders ship via USPS First-Class Mail International. The cost of shipping is not included with international orders. Please note that First-Class Mail packages may take several weeks or more to reach some international destinations. See the USPS website: usps.com for details on shipping times to your country. If you would like your items sent via a faster (but more expensive) method, please contact me either before or immediately after making your purchase.

Custom made items ship within 1-6 weeks of payment. The length of time varies depending on the complexity of the piece and if I have all the necessary materials in stock. Designs requiring multiple stages of dying, drying, and steaming take longer to create, as do pieces with wood elements such as lamps and screens. I can provide a precise shipping deadline when we decide on the design of your item.
Refunds and Exchanges
Items may be returned for a refund or exchange for up to one month after the purchase of the item, as long as the item has not been used or worn during that time. Please contact me before returning an item so that we can find the best possible solution to your issue. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs associated with returning items for refund or exchange. Refunds will not be credited until items are received, and will not include shipping costs.

Any damages or losses which occur during shipping are solely the responsibility of the buyer.

Custom orders may be ineligible for refund or exchange.
Additional policies and FAQs
If you don't see exactly what you're looking for in the store, just let me know what you need, and I'll see what I can make! I can reproduce a special motif or certain color combination on most of the items in the store, so if you see something you like, but wish it came in blue, or had a duck on it-- let me know! Also, if there's a certain type of garment or accessory you don't see, chances are good that I can find it and dye it for you. I can also create one-of-a-kind lamps, screens, and wall hangings.

Care Instructions:

All of the dyes used in my work are chemically bonded to the fiber for wash and light fastness. That said, some fabrics (especially silk and loosely woven cotton) are too delicate to wash in a machine. I recommend washing all my items by hand in cool water, using a mild soap (such as shampoo) to gently cleanse the fiber. Do not use Woolite to wash your items, as it is formulated for synthetic materials and will degrade natural fibers. Pieces stored in direct sunlight will fade slowly over time, especially if they were made using natural dyes.
