Miss Booty Barefoot Does Vintage!

Established in 2007, Barefoot Vintage has become an international online resource for buyers of rare and exquisite vintage clothing and accessories.

Vintage garments from the early 1900s to the late 80s are carefully selected, examined and restored if necessary, then conscientiously archived ready for their soon to be new owner.

In closing, experience has taught me to share what I love with others, and so it is a guilty pleasure for me to share ‘My Collection’ with you as I personally strive to improve the BAREFOOT VINTAGE experience every day of this adventure we call life.

Thank you for being a part of that journey.

Returns and exchange details

Although in most instances all sales are considered final, exceptional return requests may be reviewed on a case by case basis, however, only primarily due to a significant error in the listing. All shipping charges are non-refundable. In view of the fact that great care and attention is taken to provide our customers with accurate measurements for each garment, returns due to poor fit are not accepted. In addition any accepted return are subject to a 15% restocking fee. All items or antiquities dating from the 1940's and earlier are non-returnable due to their fragile nature. All items or antiquities over and above the value of £500 are non-returnable.

To aid you in ensuring your selected item is well suited for you, please do read the vintage sizing information below and pleasure ensure the you have double-checked and compared the listing size and your own size to get the best fit. If you are still unsure and have any question about the exact size or the appearance of an item, please do contact me and I will gladly send you additional pictures or take additional measurements. I feel that it is important that you love your Barefoot Vintage purchase - because your happiness is our philosophy!

You may find on occasion that many Vintage items will fit quite differently than modern clothing, which in most instances may be cut loosely allowing for a more general fit, accommodating a wider selection of body shapes. In contrast, Vintage clothing is cut to fit the body much closer than you may be used to. It is for this reason, that it is extremely important that you allow enough 'room for movement' when selecting and wearing your Vintage item. Vintage garments deserve to be worn with the utmost of care and consideration of their vintage age and condition.

Some Vintage garments were custom tailored, sometimes showing evidence of seams being taken in or out, which is not uncommon. Therefore, with seam allowance, it is always possible to have a vintage item altered to fit you. As always, I am more happy to answer any questions about seam and hem allowances before you purchase, often detailing this within the item listing.

Barefoot Vintage highly recommends that purchasers take the time to measure themselves (or perhaps an owned garment) to ensure a proper fit ahead of ordering an item. Using a dressmaker’s tape, measure yourself over the undergarments you plan to wear & not over your clothing.

Using an owned garment

Lay your garment flat and measure with a flexible measuring tape at each of the points referenced in the listing
If preferred you can double the waist, bust-chest and hip measurements to give you the full circumference
If your garment’s measurements are smaller than or equal to our item measurements at each reference point the listed garment should fit

Using Your Own Body Measurements

You will need to use a flexible measuring tape for all measurements and make sure the measuring tape is wrapped snugly but not too tightly as you need the measurement to be accurate

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the bust and add 1.5″ – 2″ to this measurement for ease of movement
Please Note For coats add 3″ – 5″ to the measurement | for strapless items subtract 3″ – 4″ from your normal bra size for best fit

Wrap the measuring tape around the smallest part of your natural waist
Add 1″ to this measurement for breathing room
Please Note Most vintage garments are supposed to be worn at or above the natural waist, not below it

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your hips and bottom (making sure that the measuring tape is snug to your body but not too tight)
Add 1.5″ – 2″ to this measurement to account for walking and sitting

Measure across the back of your shoulders from the mid-point of each shoulder bone (For coats, add 2″ – 3″ to this measurement)
Please Note Women’s vintage clothing can be narrow in the shoulders

Take a good deep breath to help expand your ribcage and then measure around the fullest part of the under bust
Please Note This will be directly underneath the breasts

Length (Trousers)

Measure straight down the outside of your leg from the natural waist to the point at which you wish the trouser edge to fall
Length (Dresses)

Measure straight down from the highest point of your shoulder to the point at which you wish the dress hemline to fall

If you have any other questions or concerns, please send a message before purchasing.

Frequently asked questions
Are all vintage sizes different from modern sizes?

Size tags on vintage clothing by todays standards, are somewhat misleading. For example, a 1960s size 12 is roughly equivalent to a modern size 8 or 10. Moreover, fifty or 60 years ago a woman’s waist was typically shorter, so a “medium sized” garment might not fit a modern medium sized woman today.

Barefoot Vintage highly recommends that purchasers take the time to measure themselves (or perhaps an owned garment) to ensure a proper fit ahead of ordering an item. Using a dressmaker’s tape, measure yourself over the undergarments you plan to wear & not over your clothing. Please see our sizing/measuring information here:

How can I be sure your items will fit me?

Due to the fact that vintage and modern sizes differ so greatly Barefoot Vintage has included actual garment measurements as well as the modern size equivalent within every listing to try to help you determine a proper fit

There is also a link to the sizing guide on each product page for immediate reference
