Beautiful little blanket to go in a wicker doll bassinet that was my daughter's. I am doing it up with a new baby doll for my 3 year old grand daughter to enjoy when her baby brother or sister arrives in two weeks.

Living at the Intersection of Art and Technology
A "Martha Stewart" in my own right, working out the intricate details of a design and carrying through with the planning and construction of an idea are some of the most rewarding aspects of what I do — as a professional graphic designer and as a fiber artist. My experience with computer-aided drafting and career in design has brought me to the intersection of art and technology...and that's an exciting place to be! I even have my embroidery machine hooked up to my computer!
Although I hail from southeastern Wisconsin (on Lake Michigan about one hour north of Chicago), I have lived in Texas for nearly 40 years. After living in Houston since 1980, I recently sold my 1,900 square foot house and gave away my furniture. I now live high atop a hilltain in a remote rural corner of the Texas Hill Country in a tiny handmade house that I built myself.
I have been sewing and creating needlework for more than 55 years. My mom taught me the basics of knitting, crocheting, and sewing when I was very young, but I am mostly self-taught. Over the years, I have earned the coveted title of TKGA Master Hand Knitter, became a Craft Yarn Council of America certified knitting instructor, and completed the Crochet Guild of America Master of Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques program.
As a perfectionist by nature, I hold myself to very high standards. If I am not pleased with the final outcome of a project, you won't find it in my shop. All of this means you can expect a well made product — one that has uniform stitches and with all of the loose ends securely woven into the work — that has been created with pride from high quality materials.
Originally starting out in the mechanical engineering program, I graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts and a minor in Consumer Science. I studied textiles, illustration, photography, printmaking, life drawing, and painting. For 25 years, I was self-employed as a freelance graphic designer. I have also worked as an electrical/mechanical draftsman, a CADD operator for a microelectronics company, an office manager and junior graphic designer at a graphic design studio, and as a production artist at an advertising agency.
How did the name Barking Dog Designs originate? The name is a spin-off from Barking Dog Graphics, the name of my graphic design studio, which was named in honor our cocker spaniel, Georgette. In her role as the official receptionist and greeter, she woofed and eagerly wagged her tail at everyone who came to the door. "Barking Dog Designs" is a federal registered trademark (Serial No. 77/370,364).
At the suggestion of my youngest daughter, I became an Etsy seller more than eight years ago. I'm also a member of the Old Time Etsy team.

I am also on Etsy as:
Owner, Maker, Designer
I'm basically young at heart and having four young granchildren keeps me connected to the latest kids' styles. I also love bright vivid colors and enjoy experimenting with different types of yarns and textures.
