Welcome

Welcome to Barking Sands Vintage, where you will find fabulous American antiques and vintage items of all varieties.

I describe all vintage items, through both photography and description, as accurately as possible and note any serious condition issues. These pieces are old, and generally have minor wear consistent with age and use. I try to be a tough critic when it comes to condition and point out any tiny flaw, things most people will not care one whit about. If you have any questions about a particular item, please make sure to contact me prior to purchase. I am always happy to get you more information or images so you can make a well-informed decision when buying from my shop. 


If you would like to send an item as a gift to someone, contact me and we can work out a good solution for you. Gift wrapping can be tough for most of my items, but I'm always happy to enclose a note with the gift--I use plain white Crane's stationery, or something from my vast hoard of letterpress stationery, all very tasteful!

Payment



I accept credit card payments through Etsy or PayPal (where you can also use your debit card or checking account).



Items will not be shipped until confirmation of the payment has been received.

Sales tax of 6.75% will be added to all orders shipped to North Carolina addresses.

Shipping

I ship to the address you have entered to your Etsy account. If you use PayPal for payment, your PayPal address needs to match what you have put into Etsy. If you need your item to go to another address, please let me know.

I ship via USPS (mainly for smaller items to East coast destinations, and international shipments) and FedEx several times a week. Heavy and oversized items generally ship via FedEx Ground. The bigger and heavier the item, and the farther you live from the East Coast, the more likely your item is to ship via FedEx Ground. Items over $75 will require a signature for delivery. As often as possible, orders placed before 2pm will go out the same day.

Aloha, Hawai'i! Most items will ship to you via USPS Parcel Select (unless a flat rate box works), which will take at least two weeks for delivery, longer around the holidays. If you would like a quote for Priority Mail or FedEx, please ask before making your purchase. Ditto for Alaska.

If you have a specific date by which you need an item, or would like overnight shipment, please contact me and I will get you a rate. The USPS gives *guidelines* for delivery times for Priority Mail, but these are only guidelines and not guarantees. Similarly, FedEx Ground (which I often use for larger packages and West Coast deliveries) travels by truck, so is susceptible to weather delays.

When you make your purchase, you agree to pay the listed shipping charge. Generally, as a courtesy, I will refund overcharges of more than $2 via Etsy or PayPal.

It is *very* difficult to estimate a shipping cost on any two items in my shop because of their disparate sizes and weights. Always feel free to be in touch with me to get a more precise quote in advance if you are considering multiple items.

International shipping:
Feel free to contact me for international shipping quotes if one is not included in the listing. I may add a handling charge of up to $5 to international orders. Delivery time is usually 2-3 weeks, but may be up to six weeks from the date of purchase, and can take up to 8-10 weeks. Refunds for delinquent packages will be considered only after 10 weeks have passed.

**International buyers will responsible for all customs and duties, and I will always declare the actual value on the customs form.**

I carefully pack your item to arrive safely. Please note that I try to use (clean, not skanky) re-used packing materials, so if there is bubble wrap, it has likely been used before. Reduce, re-use, recycle! I try to pack items to withstand the rough handling doled out by the US Postal Service (I am pretty sure some packages are used as footballs) and other carriers. I don't want you to suffer the same disappointment I have--how many boxes have I opened to find a handful of shards where there was supposed to be a lovely ceramic vase?

*IF* the worst happens and your purchase arrives damaged, please take photos of the box, packing materials and the sad, broken pieces. This will help expedite an insurance claim with the carrier. Be in touch with me right away and we will figure out the best course of action.

Refunds and Exchanges

I want you to be happy with your purchase. If an item is substantially different than what I have described, I will gladly accept the return of the item and refund your money. Returns should be initialized within 3 days of receipt (as per delivery confirmation). I generally do not offer credits or exchanges, but I will try to be flexible as much as possible. Buyer pays return shipping charges and assumes all risk while the item is in transit (please pack carefully and insure fully). Returns will be processed only if the item is received in the same condition in which it was sent.

Attention purchasers from the EU: As per the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you have the right to return purchases within 14 days of receiving the item. The full cost of the item and shipping will be refunded, but you will have to pay for return shipping. I strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance to protect against damage and loss while the package is in transit. Additional Policies and FAQs

All measurements are approximate. Please check to see if the size of the item in which you are interested will work for you.

All pieces with electrical components should be brought to a licensed electrician before use. Wiring, plugs and other elements are not guaranteed. Generally, I will sell pieces in good working condition, but it's better to be safe and have it checked out.
