Yes, you'll see that I mentioned the uncut pages in the listing--one of the wonderful quirks of old books! These uncut edges are the result of the way books used to be made, with multiple pages printed on a large piece of paper, then folded and sewn together into a 'signature'. Signatures were then bound together with a cover to make the book. Generally, the folded edges were cut, but sometimes pages were missed, and some books were even left with uncut pages intentionally so that the first owner could cut the pages themselves. The presence of uncut pages generally indicates that the book has not been read--you can see it's not easy to do! It's totally ok to cut the edges on this book, just try do so carefully and neatly. Hope you will enjoy this tome--you will be the first person to read it in 127 years! J
Vintage - Mid-Century Modern - 20th Century Design
I've been around art and antiques all my life and have been lucky enough to make a career of it, working first in museums and auction houses and then independently. Now I am back at Christie's working with amazing objects every day as a senior specialist in 20th-century design and global head of online design sales.
I firmly believe that beautiful vintage objects for your home can be had at any price point. There are plenty of options out there to suit every taste and budget and Etsy is a fun way to share some of the pieces I find in my travels.
My own taste tends to be pretty eclectic--I like everything from traditional 18th-century pieces and Aesthetic Movement design to mid-century modern and kitschy pieces from the 1960s and '70s. I have a long-time addiction to textiles. I'm selective about the objects I offer and am picky about their condition.
I have a good life. I have a fun job and deal with beautiful objects all day, travel a lot and live in a great city. I especially like working with decorators and stylists to find just the right piece for homes, movies and photo shoots and have had numerous items featured in magazines, TV shows and films.
I'm also an appraiser on WGBH's Antiques Roadshow:

Frequently asked questions
What can I expect from vintage items in your shop?
I describe all the items I sell as thoroughly as possible, both in the written listing and in the images. If you have any questions, please let me know!
I live in Hawaii (or Alaska). How will my items ship?
After you put an item in your shopping cart, you have the ability to choose your shipping method. USPS Priority Mail is the fastest, usually 2-5 days, depending on your location. USPS Parcel Select is less expensive, but can be *very* slow, sometimes up to 6 weeks.
Can you ship via FedEx or UPS?
I'm happy to! If you would like a quote, just be in touch. I'm also happy to use your account number, if you prefer.
Anything else I need to know?
All measurements are approximate and not guaranteed. Be sure to check that the item will fit the space you need.
Electrical components are not guaranteed. You should always have vintage items checked out with an electrician before using them.
