Outstanding! Delightful! Fresh! Unique! I have never seen my birthstone used in such an eye-catching design, and I have been searching for 61 birthdays for just the right pair. I have found them in these. This artisan has something special going on.

Okay, so here's what happened...

Several years ago I needed a necklace for an outfit to wear to a professional meeting but couldn’t afford the perfect piece that I found to go with it. The high priced necklace I found was really pretty basic. Just some multi colored acrylic beads on a fine silver chain. It occurred to me that maybe I could make a decent copy from some of my crafting supplies at home. I’d grown up in a family of crafters but aside from strings of beads and some fun necklaces made of paper cut from magazines and wrapped around adjoining paper clips, I had no experience making jewelry. Still I began my project with an open mind and after a few adjustments the necklace came out very well. I enjoyed making it so much that I bought some beading materials and made more. People complemented me on the pieces I made for myself and I started making necklaces and bracelets as gifts for my friends and family. Along the way I studied books and videos about jewelry making and when I discovered wire wrap I was hooked. I began to make jewelry every spare minute I had. One day, a friend suggested I try selling what I was making. I thought she was kidding because I didn’t think anyone would buy my handmade jewelry. But then I participated in a couple of local craft fairs with my mom and people loved my creations and didn’t seem to mind paying for them. Many of them asked me for my business card and wanted to know if I had a web site, two things I’d never thought about.

Then, at some point, I heard about Etsy and decided to give it a try. It did take me almost 10 months to get the nerve to add a listing but once I started putting pieces on the site and people started viewing and marking them as favorites I grew more confident. After I made my first sale, I knew it was going to be okay. I love that I now have my own store that people all over the world can browse and buy from. I even have business cards now and am in the process of designing some that will compliment my store.

I hope that when people browse the jewelry in my shop they are able to see a little bit of who I am in the pieces I create. I get my design inspiration from a lot of different sources. Very normal things like nature, art, fashion and other people’s creations can generate great ideas. But I’ve also been inspired by bits of conversation, the way beads fall together on the floor, and most of all, the feel of the wire in my hands. When I work with wire, I let it lead and I follow willingly. Sometimes I have a plan, sometimes I don’t. Whatever I make does seem to obtain a life of its own and I’m often surprised by the end result.

I use a variety of materials to create my pieces and I strive to keep them unique as well as affordable. My goal is to design jewelry that people will talk about and want to wear and give to others. Each piece has its own story and my wish is to represent that story in a way that allows others to be able to experience it when they view my work.
