This alter is such a beautiful treasure! I love the way that you painted it and the lovely little pearls. The message is also really beautiful! Thank you so much for the quick shipping, and for getting it here for Christmas! I will treasure it!

About

My motto: I'm Brave Enough to Try and I Am Strong Enough to Stay!

Oh Dear Ones, do I have some stories to share. I will do some now and tell more along the way. Let's begin with "I'm Brave Enough to Try". My husband went to Nigeria in 1967 to work in the oil fields just in time for the Biafran War. He continued to work but finally came home for a month and left to go to England for work in October. As Christmas came I watched as our soldiers came in from Viet Nam to their waiting families. I thought to myself. I know I could not go to Viet Nam but by gosh I'll bet I can go to England. Two days after Christmas I went across the street to my neighbor, Nell Maxwell, and ask her if she had any boxes. She said "Just what what do you think you doing?" "I'm going to England". "You are crazy as hell." she said "and just when do think you are going to go?" I said, "I have to leave by January 19th because Pam will be 2 on the 20th. and we are not on family statues and I will have to pay for her to fly." So between Dec. 27 and January 19 I leased out my house, sold my car, got passports (by a mericle), sent my husband a telegram "Wife and children arriving on January 20th if not met will proceed by train to Great Yarmouth." Back then there was only ship to shore radio and he was on a rig being towed from Scotland all the way around England up to The Wash. Luckily they let me in the country without a visa. When the immigration officer looked at me he said "Madam, with three children you must have a man somewhere. I will give you entry for 3 months." Howard was at Heathrow when we arrived. He was hard to pick out from the men from the Middle East as he was very tan from Nigeria and had grown a beard. Me and three children went with only our clothes in our suitcases. Cold, oh my goodness for this southern gal it was so cold. It was so foggy I could not see my hands in front of my face and I just knew that Jack the Ripper was the footsteps I was hearing. Howard took us to a little row house he had rented that only had coal fires. That's another story. Anyway, he showed me what the money looked like and said goodby I'll see you in two weeks. I went to stay for 18 months and ended up staying 8 years. I created a home, a circle of both British and American friends, opened an American restaurant The Yankee Traveler that remains open today (with a new owner) and learned all about antiques and antique auctions. My husband said just given enough time I could fill up a castle. After 8 years I packed us up, put the kids, my cleaning lady, the car, the cat and the moving van on a ferry boat from England to relocate to Holland. I am BRAVE ENOUGH TO TRY oh my I am brave.
More later. Thanks for reading and letting me share a bit about me with your
