Beautiful bracelet with lots of well chosen pieces of beach pottery, sea glass and complementary stones - a really special piece of jewellery. Thank you so much Sarah
The landscape through my eyes in paper.
Apple Seed Paper Cuts was born five years ago from the need to create inexpensive art for the bare walls of our new home. I loved the typographical art that was popping up in the shops so decided to have a go, armed with a craft knife and some craft paper that I already had. Before long, I was drawing and cutting out silhouette paper family trees and selling them to friends and relatives.
I still love the silhouette style, which uses one piece of coloured paper, but I yearned to find a way to add more colour to my cuts. After practising with colourful flowers I wondered if I could create a piece of art with edge-to-edge colour. Using my memories of childhood holidays to the British coast and countryside as inspiration, I started to draw and develop the naive style of paper cut landscapes that you see today.
Mostly created from my imagination, my work feels nostalgic and warm; a reminder of sunny days by the sea, of caravan holidays and picnics in the country. Occasionally I will draw from my own photographs of my favourite places, such as Cornwall or the Kent coast. And you will also find a cat popping up here and there because I do love my feline friends!
I have recently exhibited my work, had a design chosen to feature in a calendar, and been asked to write a book about the process of making my unique style of papercut landscapes. You can follow my progress on social media and instagram - please pop in and say hello!
I hope that owning a piece of my paper world will make you smile and brighten even the dullest of days.
