God has blessed me in so many ways. I'm a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters and this is the job I've always dreamed of! I am loving every minute… okay, let’s be real - almost every minute! In my past life I was a graphic designer (and then a high school counselor) and I have always loved photography. During my freshman year of college, I quickly realized I would never be the National Geographic photographer I had dreamt about, but here I am taking pictures of the beautiful North Carolina beaches! Almost the same thing, but maybe not as dangerous! I opened my Etsy shop in 2010 with just a few items I came up with while decorating my girls' nursery. The nursery was a beach theme, so when I discovered sand writings I naturally fell in love.

In the summer of 2012, I started selling my sand writings in my Etsy shop – they are my main focus now. I had done a few for friends who got married and I always got a great response. It makes me so happy to hear the comments from my customers when they see their custom photograph! People have asked me if I am really writing in the sand because they look too “perfect.” To answer that question – YES! I drive to the beach for every picture (yes, drive… if only I lived on the beach!) I take my trusty “stick” with me and I wear special flips flops when it’s warm or socks over my tennis shoes when it’s frigid (or North Carolina frigid anyway). I write your message in the sand and then take between 50-100 shots with my CanonTi3. I love this camera – it’s fantastic; it does most of the work for me. I’ve never claimed to be a professional photographer; I am not. After I find the best photograph of the bunch, I spend about an hour editing it… I clean up the sand, make the writing legible, brighten the sky; I make it look like art. God makes every day at the beach beautiful and I want my sand writings to reflect that. I pray before every shoot that I can capture the picture my customers envision. I’m so blessed – how many people have to go to the beach to work? And every single time, God meets me there.
