Another wonderful purchase from Beacon Mills! I had bought a lighthouse pepper mill several years ago that exceeded my expectations. These beautiful salt and pepper shakers do as well. A highly recommended shop.

Beautiful, light, & smooth mills. Such a piece of art with amazing craftsmanship. Seller aims to please and is very easy to work with. I HIGHLY recommend this seller!!! These were given as a gift and upon receiving them it was said they were almost too beautiful to use. You not only have a great mill, but a piece of art for your home when you purchase from Patrick!

Wind-driven water frozen in time defines this 'seascape' where my latest lighthouse pepper mill, the great Cordouan lighthouse of France stands majestic and unmatched by any other.

About

Just Milling About...

Early on, since childhood I’ve been a maker of things, mostly out of necessity. I have never had lot’s of money. So, I often resorted to making many of the things I felt I needed to have fun or to satisfy a legitimate need. Wood has always been the most versatile material for me and over time I have come to understand its working characteristics rather well. This has combined with my love for art and functional design.

I’m a one man operation who treats each building task as that of the sculptor. Applying every effort in to one object while maintaining the highest of standards. Knowing full well, that once finished, it will stand the test of time. It’s a system that precludes mass production. Each piece is more inline with a singular, artful expression rather than simple wholesale profiteering.

People talk of legacy. What will your legacy be? I think everyone leaves some sort of legacy. Whether it be walking on the moon, raising children to be mindful adults or something as simple as producing singular works of fine craft. When an individual gives him or herself whole-heartedly to a task, the result is often something beautiful. If that beauty lingers beyond the life of that individual, then you have legacy.

If you’re looking for something truly unique and of high quality then perhaps I can be of service. I enjoy nothing more than the focused, meticulous task of producing a functional piece of beautiful wood craft. Something to be appreciated for the decades to come.

Please feel free to ask questions or just say hello. Thanks for stopping by the shop.

I grew up making a lot of the things I wanted. I most often asked myself, "make it or buy it?"

Welcome to the shop. My name is Patrick, I'm glad you're here.

I've been having great fun producing these mills despite the tremendous amount of time some of them take to build. It is all a pleasure because I love the process. I hope you love the results!

Be sure to add my Shop to your Favorites to follow my new item listings. Also, follow me on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/beaconmills/

The Policies that follow may look excessive but, I thought I should lay it all out there for the sake of satisfying the curious. If you still have questions, by all means let me know. I will get back to you. Thanks so much for stopping by the shop.

Payment
• Once payment is confirmed by PayPal or Etsy or in the case of a check or money order, I will ship your new mill 1- 3 business days thereafter, unless stated otherwise within the item description.

• Wisconsin residents will be required to pay 5.6% sales tax.
Shipping
• INTERNATIONAL PURCHASERS - please see International Info below.

• My primary shipping method is calculated for USPS priority mailing boxes with tracking information and $50 of insurance for delivery within the continental US. If you live outside of this region or would prefer some other method of shipping, just email/convo me and I will be happy to reply with a quote. USPS has been completing delivery across the country most often in 3 business days.

• The USPS Priority boxes I use may be too large or long to fit in your mailbox. The US Post Office may or may not leave a package too large for the mailbox if no one is home to receive it. This could extend the delivery time frame if you have to go to the post office to pick up the package. You may also want to consider signature requirement for delivery if larger packages are normally left on a doorstep or in a community parcel box and subject to theft.

• Shipping will include basic tracking with delivery confirmation (and as of 12/2013 - $50 insurance) but generally WILL NOT include full insurance or signature requirement. You will have to request these additions prior to purchasing if it is a concern for you. I will then revise the shipping charge accordingly.

• All shipping charges include time spent, materials used and postage required.

• If you need faster or special shipping, contact me prior to purchasing so I can provide you with a revised shipping fee.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:

• The shipping charges for destinations outside of the U.S. considers thrift first rather than efficiency of delivery. It represents the low, slow method of shipping. It may take up to 3 - 4 weeks for final delivery. One or two day shipping (DHL, UPS, FEDEX) can be arranged, but will increase the cost considerably ($100+). You must indicate your preference for alternative shipping methods, either prior to the purchase or in the Note To Seller text box during the purchasing procedure.

• Tracking and insurance WILL NOT be included. Note that tracking information may not be offered on certain international shipments. Insurance (if available) will add to the cost of shipping. Again, please contact me before purchasing if you would like insurance added if it is available.

• Also, understand that you, the purchaser will be responsible for any customs and/or import fees.

**Please contact me with any questions you may have, whether shipping related or otherwise. It's always best to ask first, if there is any doubt. I am certain we can work something out.
Refunds and Exchanges
Although, it is my distinct hope that you will be fully pleased with your purchase of a BeaconMills Pepper Mill, this may not always be the case. However, I do want to guarantee your satisfaction.

• Refunds are offered up to 7 days from delivery confirmation. After that I will assume you are pleased with the item.

• If you choose to return your mill for a refund, please contact me BEFORE sending the mill back. Please note that shipping costs will not be reimbursed.

• Once I receive the mill in return and in original, un-used condition, a refund will be issued through PayPal or Etsy.

• Refunds or exchanges CANNOT be offered for lost packages, unless the shipping agent returns the package to me in original condition. Safe guards against stolen packages are the responsibility of the receiver (i.e. insurance, signature requirement, availability at time of delivery etc.). Refunds will not be given for stolen packages once delivered.

• My internal packaging should withstand average handling abuse without causing damage to the mill. If your package arrives (heavily) damaged, refuse to accept it. Contact me immediately and have it sent back to me without opening it. Once I receive it, I will contact you and we can discuss options for your approval.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom orders are gladly considered (from a picture(s) of your favorite lighthouse or perhaps using elements from my previously available mills). It doesn't necessarily have to be a lighthouse. It could be something entirely of your own design. Contact me with your request or inquiry to receive a quote. Let's work together on something really special and perfect for you!

Mill mechanisms can often be swapped-out on a particular mill, (pepper for salt, salt for pepper). This can be done prior to shipping. However, standard mechanisms cannot be swapped-out for CrushGrind® mechanisms and vise-versa. Please inform me of your choice at the time of purchase. This task can possibly add to the shipping time frame. This procedure is not offered to mills already shipped.

In my shop photographs, I try to reproduce the natural colors that I see in the woods that I use. However, due to the extreme variances in monitors and how they reproduce colors and the way each user sets-up his or her monitor, this can influence what each individual sees here in my shop. Outdoor photographs may not represent actual colors very well due to natural circumstances. Refer to the studio images for best color reference. Also, these images are taken very close to the completion of each mill. Some color variances can, and often will occur naturally over the life of the mill. Wood is a natural substance constantly responding to its environment.

The images you see in my shop have only been altered to remove clutter, dust and to allow for proper exposure to reveal all the details. All images and content are © copyrighted BeaconMills.Com.

The woods that I use come from reputable sources such as the following:
• KM Hardwoods (a local saw mill)
• Woodcraft (national retailer)
I also obtain wood from various local sources such as neighbors and friends with fallen trees. All the imported or exotic wood species I incorporate are not listed in the CITES Appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

How do I arrive at my prices?
As with the design and construction of each mill, I place serious thought into setting the price for each mill. Prices are arrived at, through close consideration of the following factors (in no particular order):
• Time spent in design, construction and finishing
• Materials used
• Availability, rarity of woods used
• Complexity of the design
• Overall size of the mill (when finished)
• Advertising/Photography (time & expense)

My policies are a result of thoughtful analysis in an effort to provide a thorough understanding between myself and the customer. With that said, there is always room for improvement (and compromise) so these policies will be continually updated and refined as the need arises. Thank you for your understanding.
