It’s true; beads and I are in love !...

I just can’t stay away from them and they keep calling me close to them. Looking at them, feeling them, mixing them, stringing, knotting or stitching them, even rearranging them gives me shear pleasure; and they just keep calling me back for more. True love I tell you !!!
I am self taught beader and beadweaver and have learned all I know out of books, magazines, a few beadweaving project directions I have purchased and experimenting!
Beadwork for me is about fun and creativity, so I create things that inspire me in some way; it could be a particular color combination, a technique, an exciting design or … anything really. Some times I make very simple pieces just to try out a technique or a combination. Or I may simply try something out from a book or a magazine article just to see how it comes together.
I started off a few years ago with stringing and that is all I took interest in until I saw a picture of Suzanne Golden’s peyote spiral bracelet about a year ago. That was it! I was hooked; I had to make it! I found out the photo was from the book The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving, and it included instructions on how to make the bracelet. I bought this truly wonderful book and this is how my love affair with seed beads started. I am now addicted to designing, choosing diverse structures and trying different stitches out and then stitching the beads on one at a time, bead by tiny bead by teeny bead. It’ is a delicate and detailed process and I put a lot of heart and soul as well as time into it.

On top of that, I am very fussy with my stitching; I want it to be precise, neat and tidy. I do like mistakes and sloppiness and thread ends that stick out and messy connections simply will not do for me. So I put even more time into it and so, since I have to share my time between my “real” work, the delights of motherhood and beading in addition to all the usual stuff, most of my beadweaving projects take me a couple of weeks to finish. So if you have a custom request please let me know asap so I can give it priority.
I hope you like what you see and I thank you for stopping by at my shop.

BEADWORK JEWELRY CARE TIPS
Here I give you some tips on how to properly care for unique handmade beadwork jewelry and keep it looking great!

GENERAL TIPS
Keep your beaded jewelry away from hair sprays, cosmetics, perfume, lotions, and various household cleaners.
Always put your jewelry on after washing and applying any makeup, hair products, lotions, perfume, etc.
Protect your jewelry from extreme temperatures and sunlight.
Do not wear beaded jewelry, in the pool, the sea or while you are showering.
Do not wear your jewelry while doing household or outdoor chores or sports.
Do not drop, crush or stuff your jewelry in crowded places.
Beadwoven jewelry is very delicate. Handle your beadwoven jewelry gently!
Your beadwork is precious; treat it as such!

CLEANING
Keep your jewelry free of dust, dirt, grease, paint and other foreign material
Always clean the jewelry with a soft cloth only.
Do not use knives or other sharp objects, scrubbing sponges and brushes as you can easily scratch the jewelry that way.
Wash your jewelry in a timid water and mild soap such as Ivory. Do not use strong soaps or chemicals.
Hot soapy water and a soft brush ( makeup brush) can be used to clean gemstones.
Rub stones with a soft cotton cloth to dry them, remove fingerprints and keep them shiny.
Take great care when cleaning soft gemstones as lapis, malachite, coral, turquoise and only use mild soap.

STORAGE
Always try to store your beaded necklaces or bracelets flat
Store your jewelry clean! Always wipe your gemstone jewelry after wearing with a clean, soft, damp cloth.
Jewelry should be kept away from heat and sunlight.
Keep your jewelry separately so it doesn't scratch other jewelry.
Plastic bags or soft pouches placed in a box are best.
When traveling, wrap pieces with padding to prevent scratches on metal or stones and chipping of the stones and pack your beadwoven jewelry in separate boxes.
Do not use jewelry cleaners with your gemstone jewelry.
Be very careful with steam, ultrasonic and other commercial cleaning methods as these may be harmful to your jewelry.
Seek the advice of a jewelry professional if you are not sure.

PEARLS, OPALS AND SOFT GEMSTONES
Pearls, opal, turqouise, lapis, malachite coral are the most delicate and need special care.
Clean your pearls with mild soap, warm water and a soft cotton cloth
Pearls really hate chemichals and that goes for your perfume and cosmetics!
Wipe your pearls frequently with a soft damp cloth to preserve their luster.
Wear them! They love it! The more you wear pearls, the more beautiful they are.
Pearls are damaged by extreme dryness and abrasive cleaners or cloths and should not be kept in safety deposit boxes.
Keep pearls separate from other jewelry to prevent scratching and store them in their own pouch or box.
Clean pearls in warm soapy water using a mild soap such as Ivory.

STERLING SILVER
Dips will remove the oxidized antique finish in silver designs and may damage stones.
Help prevent tarnishing by storing your jewelry in a cool, dry place or inside an air-tight plastic bag. Leather pouches are also good as are anti-tarnish fabric lined jewelry boxes.
Remove tarnish using a regular cloth or special anti-tarnish cloth.
Clean the silver carefully avoiding polishing any other beads. Using a cloth should not damage the dark oxidation in the recesses of the silver.
Do not use jewelry cleaner on any beaded or sterling silver jewelry.

BEADWOVEN JEWELRY
Beadwoven jewelry re delicate pieces of art and should be treated with a lot of TLC (aka Tender Loving Care), so please make sure you:
Do not stuff your jewelry in your bag or suitcase! If you need to take them with you, pack them in small paper boxes first.
Handle your jewelry with the care and attention you handle all your precious belongings.
Do not stretch, squeeze, twist or otherwise “test” your jewelry, you will just give them a hard time! …
If you have any problems or accidents, try to contain the damage and contact me to arrange for repairs.
Oh, and please, don’t let your cat play with your seeds!

FROM THE ETSY BEADWORKERS STREET TEAM

Dear Customer,

Thank you for purchasing from an Etsy BeadWeavers (EBW) Team member’s shop.
Following are some instructions regarding your purchase. These guidelines will ensure your beadwoven jewelry piece will remain as beautiful in the future as on the day you bought it.

Jewelry bought from the shops of EBW Team members is hand-made from tiny glass beads and thread or cord. As any other piece of valued jewelry it requires special care.

Please store your beadwoven items in the original package in a dry place that is protected from direct sunlight. EBW Team members use only high quality materials in their creations; however, many types of seed beads can tarnish, change, or even loose their color if stored in high moisture, heat or sunlight. Those conditions may also damage the thread, making it brittle. A soft pouch will prevent seed beads, crystals and gems in your woven items from chipping and scratching. Avoid dropping or tossing your beadwoven jewelry onto hard surfaces.

Never expose beadwoven jewelry to water, perfume or any other chemicals (including soap and other detergents, crèmes, lotions, disinfectants, etc.). Do not wear it when doing dishes, taking showers or swimming. Make sure to take it off before going to bed.

If these recommendations for care are not followed, we cannot guarantee your complete satisfaction with our products, nor their durability. When properly cared for beadwoven jewelry will serve you for many years to come and may even stay in your family for generations.

Sincerely,

Proud Member of Etsy BeadWeavers Team
